A question about love

"It's the ego that feels sorry, and the whole idea of feeling sorry is fraudulent. Use your energy for something else, to free yourself."
I see where this is going and I agree with it when speaking about "lower emotions." Feeling sorry for yourself and others does no good. It is just wallowing in lower emotions. Same as worry or fright etc.
But the question was about love. And compassion.
These are real "higher emotions." But, like I said love is not an emotion at all, but a power or energy from God. In fact, the Bible says that God IS love. Same with compassion. It is the power to feel what someone else is feeling.
It may seem a play on words, but it is not. There are counterfiets to everything in the Spirit. There are levels of what we call love.
Philos or brotherly love, Eros or physical love, and what Paul calls "charity" which is the highest form of love.
Eros is a selfish emotion, philos is not, neither is Charity. (Charos, I think)
To feel compassion for someone is not to feel sorry for them. It is actually to feel what they feel. There is a connection there.Bob
