In the case of the mushroom ally, it will let you know when it has taught you what you need to learn. In my case, I think I used it maybe 5 times over a period of 4 years, and then one day the ally basically said it would be with me always, though it would no longer be necessary to ingest the ally organically.
How do you personally define ego?
