These aboriginals sound like lovely people indeed. But their journey in spiritual evolution is just beginning, which is why their spiritual beliefs could be so easily duped, as with the two statues and the narrator of this story had to intervene and throw them into the fire.
Adam and eve...innocents, had to leave the Garden of Eden, were forced out, because they didn't know good from evil and so could be tempted by evil...then the return to the Garden of Eden by choice due to the ability to discern good and evil.
And these aboriginals may start dreaming now that they are being contaminated. There is other value in dreaming though, besides repression of things. The spiritually advanced, such as in Tantra, leave their knowledge in "places" and their initiates must access it in dream-realm. In other words, its not in books written down for them, they must access it themselves in dream-like expereinces.
