The search for the mysterious Holy Grail was a symbolic story illustrating the inability for the natural man to understand the spiritual "good news" of the New Covenant (or Testament).
After the civilizing influence of King Arthur's round table and the LAWS of chivalry, there came a higher and more ellusive undertaking.
The search for the Holy Grail. Some of the realm's most valiant knights were completely lost as soon as the search began. Gawain could find no adventures on his search. When before the search began he could not go three feet without running into some damsel to rescue or other adventure.

Prophesies concerning "The Promise" of the latter days, after the Spirit has been poured out. This "Promise" was fulfilled 50 days after the Crucifixion at Pentecost (when all in attendance recieved the Baptism of Fire and the Holy Spirit) and has continued to this day.Bright Flame
