Odes and other things to Men, and for men....
#3
Sorry my quest for gender equality has offended you so much Shamanka, but perhaps if and when more people are free from the shackles of their gender roles and start treating each other as equals, and seeing the full humanity in each other instead of dividing human traits into "masculine" and "feminine" you might decide that it isn't so bad. I do want to reply to one thing you wrote here...

"i appreciate men, who don't use words like 'babe' and 'darling' in passive aggressive ways"

You know back in the day, I don't think people got offended by having others use terms of endearment like that when they were arguing. Nowadays I hear people call it passive aggressive, others call it patronizing, etc. but to me it just seems like a good way for people to remind each other that they don't hate each other when an argument starts getting heated. I think that really was the intention of how it used to be used, and that's my intention when I use it. Is it really any different for you when you use "sweet xx" when you're arguing? I hope not, because I'd rather see that from you when we're arguing than be called an **** or something out of an attempt to "not be passive aggressive".
