The politicians would demand stronger and stronger measures to expose these threats until one day the governments of the world all agree to make all the aliens remove their masks and reveal their true selves. Then, one by one, all of the people on Earth would unmask as we find that humans never really existed at all!
At least, that's how the book might continue if I were writing it. As to the original question, certainly there's "inner" or "extra-dimensional" aliens. Aliens life on other planets I suspect exists, but I'm less certain of.
