I couldn't agree more. Tolkien was a visionar, dreamer, poet and whatever expression I use here is not good enough to describe him. He was creator, not a mere player (he wrote Silmarillion, how could he be any less).
I love his books and have read all of them several times. Movie trilogy is great, of course, but there is even more magic hidden behind the letters on the pages of his books. Magic that truly creates those worlds in front of the readers eyes. And the poems he wrote in books are simply amazing and uplifting taking reader even deeper into the vastness of those worlds...
Through his books (that are expression of nothing less but himself and his openess to the higher levels of existance) he made many people realize that life itself is magical if we allow it to be.
I could talk and talk about Tolkien ...
