Moving to Tapatalk
#1
Hello everyone

As you can see (and as previously notified), yuku has merged with tapatalk. Bear in mind that many threads have now posts that are out of order and we say things that are no longer true at some places at the site. It will take a longer time to go over these things.

Our board, and all other yuku boards, have (or will in the near future) move to tapatalk. The forum look will change. Our skins are all gone and will not be coming back. The platform has changed in such a way that they are not compatible. We will have to start with everything from scratch (but at the moment do not have access to the needed links to start recreating the skins - if it even is possible). The smileys in the moved threads are now broken images and I do not know if that will ever change (edit: some, but not all have started to show up again).

I have many issues in the admin panel. Not knowing how to adjust privacy, get other people permissions to help me do things, etc. (edit: I have managed to figure out the most important things I can but will have to wait on yuku/tapatalk with some things because the move messed up the admin permissions)

At this moment the site is not accessible to anyone other than moderators and admins. This gives us a couple of people here right now: everyone who had access to Sharing Sorcery and New Seers specific group moderators.

In terms of Ravenfield. Every Raven member had access to Sharing Sorcery, so we can all do our thing here. Though it looks not exactly as we would like, at least it is functional. We can do our full moon dreaming and continue Sharing Enthusiasts projects. (edit: managed to bring back the water feel we had on our main index, not perfect, but getting there)

Further information might follow. (edit: see edits hehe)

Yours truly...

Thanks for all the info Watergaze. It certainly has changed. Why yuku did this is beyond me. Before was better.

Yep. I will miss our skins. And the fact that each of our forums could be customized to reflect what it was about and help set the mood (Tales of Power stormy mood by the fire or Ravenfield with the ravens in the field backgruond and the little ocons like the dancing raven smiley as a hot topic). Well, this is what it is now.

We have the option to try to make this work. And I guess we will give it a try... and if it doesnt then to look for something else. However, I do not know if any yuku-like place exists still. Most boards are like this due to the push to be compatible with mobiles. For me it is terrible there due to the Admin Panel being so strange. I have gone trough 3 admin panels at discussion forums and I could always intuitively make good use of them. This one... so far.... is just a horror. We looked at it with JJ to figure out how to make him and admin and there even is a tutorial to help with that. The tutorial doesnt help at all (they either skipped a few steps or who knows, following it got us nowhere) and poking around didnt do the trick either.
Same experiences with privacy settings. I have not yet figured out how to change them or even see them.

Ah, yuku over did it, as the format was already compatible with mobile....grrrrr. Maybe it wasn't 'ideal' for mobile, but it wasn't difficult to navigate by any means. Well, all can be done is try to make the new format work. Sounds like they did shoddy job with tutorials.

Hello everyone
We are open for business again. Sorry for the blackout - it was crucial to hide until we found decent clothing, not just in terms of looks but also concealment eerrm (as in the need to cover some private areas). Familiarize yourselves with the new layout and looks and functionalities. And if you have comments or feedback or can provide help during the transition please let us know.

I will be going on a traveling vacation - Edinburgh, Orkneys, Fort William here I come. I am leaving you all in JJ's capable hands (I finally managed to make him an admin after 4 days of trying and talks with yuku support, so now he can oversee everything while I'm away) and Sen comes by every once in a while too. If you have troubles write here in the support forum.

I will check in here and there when wifi and time and wakefulness allow hehe.

Thanks WG for that vote of confidence. Smile

One issue that I've noticed from the transition which has affected me and perhaps others is that my old PMs from before the move are no longer in my inbox. It isn't a major issue for me, but WG did mention it to the folk at Tapatalk and they assured her that all our old pms were safe and would get moved once everything else was moved over. Whether or not that will really happen remains to be seen, however I did notice today that I can access my old PMs in my inbox on the Tapatalk app on my phone. So if anyone else is having this issue and trying to get to their old PMs you might want to give that a try.

So whats up with chat!? It was finally getting to be booming?

Unfortunately Tapatalk removed the yuku chat applets from all the forums when they moved them. Tapatalk doesn't have it's own chat program either. There is a workaround that I'm working on though, and hopefully we'll have a better chat room than we had before pretty soon. I agree that the timing regarding that couldn't have been much worse.

Hey.  Since Yuku is upgrading, now is the perfect time for an admin to put in a request to make Yuku a secure site.  It's been like this for as long as I've been here, but who knows, if they're upgrading they may be willing to go the extra mile while they're tweaking stuff.

Globally, Yuku is not secure... that means:

The site isn't using a private connection. Someone might be able to see or change the information you send or get through this site.
You might see a "Login not secure" or "Payment not secure" message. We suggest that you don't enter sensitive details, like passwords or credit cards.
On some sites, you can visit a more secure version of the page:

Select the address bar.
Delete
Code: Select allhttp://
, and enter
Code: Select allhttps://
 instead.

If that doesn't work, contact the site owner to ask that they secure the site and your data with HTTPS.

We could try to put it on their to do list (if enough of us ask for it). It surely would be preferable.

We will have to find alternative chat venues. For example, I am trying this one with JJ right now: https://chatstep.com/#sorcery

If anyone knows of good private chat room options please let us know...
