Hello, I am surprised not to see a sort of help for posters here, as it seems to be quite a difficult task to get something to look as I wish . Also I wonder about the editing function, or the lack of one.
I have searched for an explanation on how editing works on this site but have not found it. I see that some members are able to edit posts, maybe it depends also on the part of the site that we are discussing in (I will soon post in other threads/sections to try this out) and the status of these members (obviously a moderator can edit posts). Either way I would like to be informed of my options. Maybe I just do not see where the editing button is, but I remember from another site that it was at the bottom left of my post (which it is not in my posts in Silvereye).
If there is no editing option I would like to know why, what the editing policy of this site is, and all that. I also admit I am not liking not being able to edit my posts, especially since this site is somewhat harder to read than usual (letters kind of small and sometimes a badly chosen background combination with the color of the letters). Makes my posts take longer to write and reread than I am used to . I know the general issue of sites such as these that sometimes a user decides to delete (edit out) his/her posts (saw this here in the Tenant discussion). But then I would suggest to leave the edit option at least a few hours after posting, so that corrections can be made if needed (if that is possible here on yuku). But generally I am for the full use of the edit, because it should be a common thing to be mindful of others and not mess with things (and those who do so, it reveals their character, which is also useful).
I would also appreciate a post here in the support forum about the code that can be used in texts to make quotes, blockquotes, quotes within quotes. If i change the size and color of my text I do not see it in the preview, so I never tried posting it to see if it works - because if something goes wacky I cannot edit the post.
I will show here what I have found out so far (will put additional space in there so that it is seen):
[ quote=XYZ] bla bla [ /quote] makes this: XYZ wrote: bla bla
[ quote="XYZ"] bla bla [ /quote] makes this: XYZ wrote: bla bla
However, in the Silvereye thread it differentiated when I used quotation marks and when I didn't. Here it does not. Sheesh, complicated stuff. Also, there I do not get it to be in a box, I just get a line on top, so everywhere where there is a box here might not be a box in Silvereye:
Here is another way to do it, without the line < blockquote>bla bla < /blockquote> bla bla
A quote within a quote can be done in two ways:
[ quote]< blockquote>bla bla < /blockquote>[ /quote] bla bla
[ quote="XY"]< blockquote> bla bla < /blockquote>[ /quote] XY wrote: bla bla
not everything can be combined. Putting together 2 times [ quote][ /quote] does not work for example.
I also do not know how to say who wrote the quote within the quote.
If one wants to put the text before the 2nd quote:
[ quote="XY"] blabla < blockquote> bla bla < /blockquote>[ /quote] XY wrote: blabla bla bla
If one wants to put the text after the 2nd quote:
[ quote="XY"]< blockquote> bla bla < /blockquote>[ /quote] XY wrote: bla bla blabla
don't think this will be needed, but just to show that it is possible: [ quote="XY"] blabla [ quote] blabla < blockquote> bla bla < /blockquote>[ /quote][ /quote]
XY wrote: blabla blabla bla bla
I know how to do bold, italics and underline, plus it is possible to use the buttons above the writing area of the post. But with font and size and color it somehow does not work for me. When I change color, size and font in the boxes nothing happens in the preview, plus these 3 boxes are put to the default again..
But manually, I understand that color is done somehow like this < font color="#ff1100">abc< /font> which creates this: abcd Or by typing the color from the options listed above the post writing area, like this: < font color="red">abc< /font> abc
Concerning size. This does not work:
< font size="large"> abc < /font>, neither does this: < large> abc < /large>
This does: < font size="2"> abc < /font> abc The bigger/higher the number the higher bigger the letters). This is 5 abc . Do not know how to make size smaller (but I suppose I will not be needing that function).
Am not gonna fool around with the font. Maybe somebody could tell me how to do this.. These do not work:
< font="tahoma"> abc < /font>
< font="6"> abc < /font>
< font style="6"> abc < /font>
< font style="tahoma"> abc < /font>
< tahoma> abc < /tahoma>
I suggest a link be posted here to this kind of html tags or better some info copy pasted here (because not all is working as I see)
There are other things that can be done, like tables, or numbers (cause when i tried the number list it just made number one of the whole thing till the end, so not sure how that works either, but luckily numbers can be done in the usual writing fashion).
Some info from these sites could be utilized:
