Removing Posts.
#1
Please do not delete your posts in the main forums or you will be banned from this site. Moderators are excluded. I think you know who I am referring to. Mass deletions of posts disrupt the forums and will get you banned. Today after checking the logs there has been too many deletions by certain members. An occassional edit or removal I can see but not massive posts removals. Member Lightwolf was banned today for such behaviour.

Lightwolf aka unicorn etc. Likes to express himself and then remove the topic when it has been out there for a while.

I can follow the idea of wanting not to be fixed. PerSyd did the same and impeccably removed/edit to zip like 800 post

I also understand your policy Lone Wolf. It is a dilemma

I agree 100% with NLW......we should be warriors and impeccable in our words.   If we post something we later regret, we need to make another post of explanation     We should not hide our intent, even if it is the past.
No dilemma in my eyes.

When you let spirit speak through you, you might not want that to stick to you.

The message might also be short flash for those reading it and the grabbing it.

A cubic cm of chance.

I just want to be more clear on this. I can see a daily log which shows me when members have deleted their posts. When I see mass deletions by a member it becomes something I have to address. Please think twice before deleting posts , I would rather a member edit it.

MS - I do understand your point. I apologize if I sounded rash. However, I would not remove this post becuase it was my intent at that time. I do not flip flop on my intent and I am not fearful of anyone who may try to use my intent (down the road) against me. A better soultion to deleting posts, would be not to post something that you may want to delete down the road. There have been times that I have entered a post that I later felt uneasy about.....mainly becuase I may have offended someone....but I take accountability for my word and will not hide beind a deletion.

I can see your meaning Mornings Son, we all make posts we might regret or feel we no longer identify with its intent. This thread is not meant to be as such either. I feel that the members of Ravenfield are the best of the best here and thus we should be more representative of this forum's mission. We should all welcome new members and respond to posts. Erasing posts creates a intent that others will notice and feel that member shouldn't be addressed because their posts could be erased after a greeting or comment. I agree also with Dan the Man in that the intent of erasing a post is usually one where the poster does not others to see what they posted.

Just to make it clear I'm not disagreeing with the politic, just pointing out the other side.

So for me no more needs to be said, beside maybe that the policy should be public.

The other obvious option is to remove the edit and delete buttons.. But I always felt that is unfair to normal people who are disadvantaged cause of others who are not behaving. On TTZ the admin set an edit limit time. So one can edit for like 4 hours, which is good if one makes typos or wants to add a p.s. or something and prevents people from deleting after some time has passed and disrupting the thread. That seems like not a bad option as such, not that I like it specifically. However, I dont think something like that is possible here on yuku.

LoneWolf...
I agree with you 100% on removing posts.  It's infamous troll behaviour and as a forum owner myself, I can validate how much it disrupts a forum, particularly if the thread is still active.  I DO think an "edit" function is a good idea - it seems to be available on some of the forums/threads here, but not others.  No big deal, just a thought.
Of course, I also agree with Mornings Son to an extent.  There are times when it may be wise spiritually to remove or edit certain posts, but hopefully most warriors are familiar with the old concept of "be impeccable with your word."  Much less to edit & remove if we simply think before we speak.
On the subject of edit as opposed to remove... it's been interesting to me over the years to see how our views/conclusions change as we evolve on our path.  So if I said something 5 years ago and no longer "believe" it, or have come to a greater understanding, I think it is far more helpful (to myself & anyone else) to post new ideas alongside the old.
My 2 cents... won't even buy a gumball these days!  LOL.

I could not have said it any better myself!  Exactly! As warriors, fluidity is important as is not getting pinned down by words or the moment.  I can see both sides of the argument.
