The guitar solo from a different perspective

Bending strings is mostly for guitars with light strings on them.
I like a gauge of strings that are good for both Jazz and Rock music.
To bend strings like Eric Clapton using heavier gauge strings is brutal on the fingers.

I like to slide up and down to notes instead. The effect is very similar.
Not exactly the same, but I don't want to be exactly the same!

I AM MY OWN MAN!!!

I had quite a session today working on an instrumental version
of While My Guitar Gently Weeps. Had to stop because of burning fingers

My newly modified Prince guitars sound great

HOWEVER

Those single coil pickups tend to react with lots of hum to things like small fans
and I just so happen to like to use small fans quite a bit in this house.

The Les Paul, with its Humbucker pickups, does wonders for getting rid
of that obnoxious 60 cycle 'hum'. Yes, I am indeed a Les Paul man

As long as I'm not playing guitar too close to a fan
the Telecaster copy guitars sound great.

I've decided to concentrate on developing a style where
I use my fingers to sound like I'm using a slide.

I like sliding up and down to notes rather than bending them.
Oh, I like bending sometimes, but I'd rather slide up and down to notes.

I've developed quite an instrumental version of

While My Guitar Gently Weeps.

Suddenly I thought of the song Freebird by Lynyrd Skynyrd.
Found a few awesome versions without the lead guitar parts.
I'm probably going to use this one

I'm going to do an AWESOME lead guitar version!!!

The story of Lynyrd Skynyrd is a story of a proverbial comet that eventually crashes and burns.
However, they do have a couple of songs that are worthy of my emulation.

I empirically learned that Freebird is a subconscious theme song for the American Marines.
I learned this from performing music in Marine Corps clubs.

This is NO ORDINARY SONG to young enlisted Marines.
THIS SONG is the song of their hearts!!!!!

CHANCES ARE YOU WOULD NEVER KNOW THIS

UNLESS I OPENLY REVEALED IT TO YOU

I intend to do it justice mostly as an instrumental with my ring-slide

Man, my fingertips almost feel like match heads about to ignite!!!Listen to the second-half of this song and you will understand why
I absolutely MUST stop bending strings or I will get blisters for sure!!
Maybe tomorrow I can bend strings again, I hope

I use heavier gauge strings than these guys were using for sure!!
WOW!!! Living right on the edge of blisters on my fingers

This is fucking pathetic!!!

Eric Clapton, apparently, doesn't realize

that he was creating something SACRED

with his original lead breaks in the Beatles song

WHILE MY GUITAR GENTLY WEEPS

He sounds like some okay guitarist trying to emulate

THE REAL ERIC CLAPTON!!

It pisses me off to see Eric Clapton so NUMB to the Spirit

This video should start at 2 minutes and 13 seconds

THIS IS WHAT ERIC'S LEAD BREAK SHOULD SOUND LIKE!!

Well. apparently, the video is NOT going to start at the 2m13s mark

I'll tell you something

If you want to know why people were saying

ERIC CLAPTON IS GOD

Listen to this lead break

I HAVE HAD A MOMENT OF TRUE 'SEEING'

I REALIZE NOW WHAT MAKES

ERIC CLAPTION'S LEAD GUITAR WORK IN THIS SONG

SO MAGICAL!!!!

HE IS USING HIS FINGERS TO SOUND LIKE

HE IS USING A SLIDE ON HIS GUITAR!!!!!

I'M PLAYING THIS SONG USING MY RING-SLIDE

ERIC CLAPTON DID NOT HAVE ACCESS TO SUCH A PRODUCT

IN THE DAYS OF HIS GREATNESS!!!

THIS IS INDEED A RECENT INVENTION!!!

OKAY,
I feel an explanation is in order:

The Ring-Slide makes it MUCH EASIER

to blot the unwanted strings while playing

You can turn it to just the right width for your needs

And THOSE NEEDS are to blot ANY unwanted string

from the sound you are doing your best to create.

So, the Ring-Slide makes it MUCH EASIER

to blot unwanted strings than an average slide
