The Tonal and the Nagual: Worlds Apart
#1
Today we consider the remaining two points in the above diagram, the Tonal and the Nagual.  Exactly what in the hell are they?

We see in the above diagram that they both are connected to Will and if not for the names they are both the same except for the fact that one represents the daily world (the Tonal) and one represents the shadow our daily world makes (the Nagual).

The Nagual is the indescribable void that contains everything while the Tonal is the indescribable unknown filled with order.

Neither world is comprehended by Reason.  Reason can only stay out of the way.

These two points are both inside of us and outside of us.  They both represent the totality of our beings and what we are capable of perceiving.

Our bodies are our Tonals while our shadows are our Naguals.  When the Assemblage point moves our bodies change and our shadows change.  What is also true is the world we are witnessing changes as well.

The Earth gives us our first Tonal and Nagual and we then emphasize parts of the Tonal and call that our daily existence.  The Nagual stays in the background and is only used for actions while the Tonal makes judgments and decisions about the world it emphasizes.

Another way to talk about this is the Tonal uses Will while Will uses the Nagual.   From God on down the Tonal represents the world of rationality and order and Will has only a supporting role.  If not then we are on the road to self important behavior.

When the Nagual starts to use Reason like the Tonal we have what is called indulging or the weakening of our power by becoming obsessed with something staying the same or something having to change.  When these two things occur we end up with irrational Tonals and rational Naguals.  Go figure.....

The Nagual serves Will.  Reason has only a supporting role that can only be achieved through a life of discipline.   When one is at the ultimate center of Will the Nagual can be witnessed and that is called the view of the Nagual.

Conversely at the ultimate center of Reason the Tonal is witnessed and that is called the view of the   Tonal.

The Tonal and the Nagual are the ultimate dichotomy.  The Tonal includes everything we can talk about and we call that everything the Human Inventory.  The Nagual is where power hovers outside of the Human Inventory.

When the Tonal clings to its inventory it begins to block the Nagual because the Human Inventory disappears in the Nagual.  The Nagual also represents our death while the Tonal represents our life so for the Tonal to never die all it has to do is de-emphasis the Nagual to such a point that it seems to be gone for good.

That is until we get the 'positive diagnosis' and we then see the lying we have been doing to ourselves in order to be self important and immortal.

Fantastically written on topic of Tonal and Nagual. I would like to add the role of the ap. The ap assembles reason (Tonal) via will (Nagual). It actually draws from both simultaneously. Yet the will upholds it.

When one is blocking the Nagual, as you said above, by clinging to inventory, it appears that one is immersed in pure rationality and order. But in truth, one is merely willing this state of awareness. So, the perceived order of the universe is an act of will. Will to assemble the world. In such a way as for it to appear concrete and unchanging. This immortality lasts only as long as the will sustains it. Will is temporary, yet infinite too.

The will is as intangible as the Nagual is. Thus, the center of the will is viewing the Nagual. Just as you said.

The ap of reason is drawn into actualization through the act of 'willing it so'. Will actualizes, reason perceives (arranges order out of infinite possibilities), aka the assemblage point. Thus, the ap draws upon both will and reason simultaneously.

An example. When you were in school you had to learn to read and write. You didn't know how to read or write but you willed yourself to have the ability to learn. As you willed the 'learning of' this skill, the will drew into manifestation the rational order of comprehension required. This was accessing reason. You will yourself to access reason, which manifests in perception as: 'the solution step by step.' One letter at a time, small words then bigger words, etc. A simultaneous act of will and reason. Is this the only way to learn? No. It's the massively popular approach. However learning is not limited to 'one way'. Will governs all possibilities. If one seeks another way to learn, one simply has to will that possibility. Such is the power of the Nagual over the Tonal.

To state it metaphorically: imagine the Nagual is like the Sun (or Moon) the Tonal is the lake of water reflecting it. Furthermore, awareness (you) is coming from the point of this Sun (Moon)... you are that. As a result, your gaze is cast down upon the water. You look to see yourself, what you see, all you ever see, is the reflection of yourself. It's not you, but you can see it, it's all you can see. You will never see your true self. This is the folly of the Tonal. That the Nagual can never be seen, but it can be perceived, via the Tonal (reflection of). Controlled folly simply means you are aware you (all) are a reflection. You being the Nagual.

So, while this post talks about the dual maneuver of will/reason, it's really about will. Will is the steering mechanism. Through will all else is possible. If this is so, one might ask "why aren't more people harnessing it for personal gain?" Such as willing a stack of money to suddenly appear in their hands. Answer:
"When the Nagual starts to use Reason like the Tonal we have what is called indulging or the weakening of our power by becoming obsessed with something staying the same or something having to change."
But, it's not indulging in and of itself that weakens will. It's what is connected to this obsession/indulging: maintaining personal inventory and the needs that arise within that arena. This weakens will, not because self importance is a moral issue. But simply because personal inventory takes enormous amounts of energy to maintain it's structure. Thus, will has less energy to use in other ways, because one is willing their identity, inventory and entire life structure in such a way. Very little else left in energy to will anything else.

So, if one were able to drop their personal inventory to such a large degree to accrue enough attention (energy) needed to will a stack of money into their hands, could they then do that? I would say yes. But that 'money' would not mean as much to them at that time. Ones goals/priorities would have shifted as inventory was relinquished. Still, it could be done, as could anything else. Anything can be willed into existence, if the will is strong enough. If we know this about will, then we know our potential for freedom.
