Great news! Among the itemsĀ found in our burrowing our scholars have identified a genuine magical artifact! In those hopes that there will be more, we've setup a designated place to stash them. Head over to the artifact stash and check out the "emabacus", a bona fide Juliopolan artifact built by an actual wizard!

Our plan to lure out artifacts by creating a place to stash them seems to be working, as a second artifact has been discovered! Head over to the stash to see though we caution you against attempting to use it. You might find it more of a curse.

Two new buildings unearthed!
The dig team has been hard at work as usual and we've recently unearthed The Academy and The Wizard's Tower! As it turns out, this was due in part due to a stroke of luck for as we were digging we noticed signs in the landscape indicating where a large chasm once existed. From some of the papers our translators have been working on we knew that between the Academy and the Wizards' Tower was a large chasm so as soon as we found one we could see the location of the other.
Interestingly enough that chasm wasn't always there. In fact, the Wizards' Tower was initially built on the Academy however some sort of cataclysmic event seperated them and created the chasm between them. This led to a long-standing quarrel between members of the two groups. The philisophers of the Academy blamed the wizards for creating the cataclysm, saying they could prove it with fixed rationality. The wizards on the other hand blamed the academic philosophers, saying they could prove it with fluid irrationality. They even went so far as to start referring to their tower as the "center of unreasonableness", in mockery of the academy's claim to be the "center of reason".
Most of the townspeople did not take sides in the fued. They did however resent having to struggle so hard to cross the gap every time they wanted to go from one place to the other. It seems there had been lots of discussion about building a bridge between them but our translators have not yet found anything which confirms whether such a bridge was built, nor have our diggers gone far enough into the sand to be able to determine it. We will be looking for that bridge though.

Dangerous Conditions
To all visitors. Be advised that area of the large structure we've recently been working to unearth is considered highly unsafe. A warning sign has been placed at the area. Quicksand has been seen and there are real dangers to be wary of. With that said, please disregard any rumors of ghosts or other such nonsense that seem to be circling about. These are doubtlessly the products of some overactive imaginations belonging to members of the dig team and are not worthy of consideration. Thank you.

More happenings
Great news, we've found another artifact! Head on over to the artifact stash to see a fascinating early model of the human brain created by aliens which somehow ended up in the posession of the Juliopolitans. Also of note, the excavation of the large structure at the unsteady ground area has been progressing rather well, in spite of the refusal of most of the crew to dig there. Those who haven't been scared off by silly ghost stories say that several forunate minor earthquakes have helped their progress greatly as if the building itself were trying to be uncovered, (but don't read too much into that! ). The building appears to be a very large oval-shaped structure and our best guess at the moment is it served as some sort of arena, though we've yet to translate any writings about an arena and what sort of plays or sporting events may have went on inside it.

This site to be abandoned
Thank you for stopping in, but it appears it was for naught. I'm sorry to report that this dig site is now closed and must be abandoned. This was necessitated by an unfortunate cave-in which trapped half of my crew underground in the SW sector of the city. In order to rescue them we had to dig our way in sideways from a location a few miles away. This rescue effort took over 8 months and cost us a man's life; not to mention most of our supplies and apparently the sanity of several of the trapped crew members. Now, after posting this sign as a warning to future visitors to this site, we are going to take what little provisions we have left and ride our camels back to Agrabah, where I will have the unenviable task of informing our financiers of the bad news. Whether a future return trip here to finish the work is possible may be up to them. If it is, I do not know if I would again be selected to lead it, nor if I'd agree to such a position if it was offered.

After two days of riding through the desert it appears we have gotten lost and ended up back here. We will stay the night and set off again immediately in the morning.

Once again it seems our guides have led us back here. When questioned all I've gotten from them as to why this is the case is puzzlement and a claim that their starmaps have somehow turned inaccurate. I'm not sure what to make of this information, all I know for sure is that my guides have now become useless. We leave again tomorrow, this time we will navigate by the sun, travelling in a straight direction approximately NW from here until we reach the shore, which we will then follow East back to Agrabah. I only hope we can all survive the journey now that we've used up an extra 5 days worth of supplies going around in circles.

After walking NW for two days, using the sun as a guide, we have inexplicably managed to return to this place from the southeast. Finding this site again has caused a great amount of stress for myself and my crew. We now no longer have enough supplies to make the trip to Agrabah even if we could guarantee we wouldn't get lost. Once again from my crew I'm hearing talk of ghosts, and I wonder how long it will be before there's talk of mutiny. For now, I've separated my crew into 3 divisions. The first division will have the duty of finding food from nearby in the desert. The second will resume digging in strategic locations where we believe the Juliopolitans may have left useful supplies; leftover jars of honey or seeds of grain in food caches, items which can be used to try and create a signal beacon we can use to attempt to attract help, additional clothing, etc. The third and smallest division will be led by myself and we'll be in charge of making sure provisions are rationed properly while working on a plan for escape or rescue from this place. With some luck we may be back to civilization in a few weeks. Without it we may be here a very long time.
