peculiarities of awareness
#1
I feel like I am at a point of something more like dreaming while awake. I once established that awareness is simply Acute focus based on duration, which has varying degrees of expansion and divsion. So that being said, My awareness is not able to focus on anything for an extended period of time. If it does it begins to reflect back to me in the every day world, such as alignments with tv shows content, the content of people, and i begin the listen to things in a different way. The only peace i have found from this reflection is moving my focus around to everything and all things, sometimes dividing it between many to where it becomes confusing. My internal dialogue is shut off, but its some kind of intent or thread behind words and events. Is this the shadow playing with me, possibly IOBs? Or is it simple reflection of my inner workings at the time. Regardless I feel trapped in this place, whatever its pupose it. My dreams have been strange yet normally strange. I guess you could say i have been meeting special beings within my dreams lately. Beings that appear to be from different places in the multiverse. Sometimes I feel i am pinned down by shadows in a small place between falling asleep and dreaming. The last one was a red dark marroon almost firey being, sitting on top of me holding me down as i became aware i could not shake it.

any input would be great. thank you.

Lucidity I think it's perfectly natural to have your awareness bounce around amidst the ever changing world around us. The key is (at least from my perspective), amidst this roving/roaming/surfing, cultivating a sense of central awareness.

I don't know if you read CC's The Art of Dreaming, but in it Don Juan taught Carlos to find his hands while dreaming and, in doing so, lucidity was established....a sense of central awareness within which he knew he was dreaming. And then, in order to sustain that central state of awareness...to not get "lost" in dreaming...to not lose lucidity...he had Carlos glance at various things/people in the dream...to touch on them briefly and then glance back at his hands to stabilize the lucidity. Carlos got better and better at sustaining lucidity amidst his lucid dreams.

Something similar can be done during daily awareness, in a manner of speaking. My attention roams quickly and easily this way and that, from one thing to another, amidst my day. Hell, I've been told I have ADD! And that's cool....nothing wrong with that. The key for me is, as frequently as I can remember, to bring my awareness back to "home base"....to here, in my core. To cultivate a sense of silent awareness, like a ball that just radiates out from a central position deep with, that's not attached to anything in particular. It floats free and detached and, because its detached, it can go anywhere. Its always right here, deep within wherever we are. Lucidity gathers momentum in that center...and it can certainly be taken with us into dreaming

ALWAYS LOOK ON THE BRIGHT SIDE OF LIFE! Focusing your awareness to a problem only highlights that problem, keeping it active in your attention, however looking towards a solution will ultimately shift the energy and sustainment to the solution. Good luck.

I agree with this. If one must focus on a side...then the bright side is the best, I guess.

Thing is, with dreaming, there's the notion of disengaging focus altogether and then following what emerges amidst that suspended focus....tracking it without clinging or getting preoccupied. Of relinquishing and allowing dreaming to come to you/me. My impression is that dreaming, lucid and otherwise, is part of the natural state of things...and will naturally emerge if we just get out of its way. Stay aware and let go....or vice versa . In the simplest terms, its the recipe for lucid dreaming....and for seeing while awake.

But, as you say, intending for the best is a powerful tool.

You are very wise Glancy. You always bring something to the conversation and highlighted with a sense of humbleness and beauty.

Well dreaming is still intended, or willed into being. Our awareness of dreaming and our knowledge of what dreams are ultimately pave the way for our dreaming. It learning what to keep and what and when to let go in order to discover new positions. Trust in the perfection of the unknown and great heart make the journey worthy and enjoyable. I found that loving the nagual goes a long way in creating a great experience.
