Dreaming Aids
#1
Many of us have problems to achieve clarity and cohesion when it comes to dreaming. The naguals of Don Juan's line gave a number of methods regarding
dreaming attention but most of us have (in the beginning of our practice) troubles actually achieving them.

I'll give a number of basic pointers here to aid the dreaming intent:

Relax! If the body is profoundly and fully relaxed, from head to toes, going beyond it is remarkably easy. This is the first step in Dream Yoga or Yoga
Nidra. Lie down comfortably on your back and breath with your belly slowly and deeply for a few minutes. After that start relaxing your body, from toes to
head, by saying mentally in a serene manner "I relax my toes... I relax my foot... etc". When you are fully relaxed, you can go to the next
step.
Take some time to stop your inner dialogue... concentrate on your third eye. Try to look how thoughts come and go without following them. Try, if you are
interested, to see where they come from. If the silence of the mind gets difficult, try to repeat mentally a mantra for some time. When the mind gets
silenced, you may pass to the third step. If you fall sleep it really doesn't matter. You will be going to sleep relaxed and in inner silence and
that's pretty much the point here.
Intend dreaming. While keeping your concentration on the third eye intend a dream of your choice. There are here some other options as well: You may
intend feeling your energy body and intend leaving your physical body (the traditional approach of astral travelling).
Astral travelling doesn't do much for the consolidation of the double and the second attention (seeing energy), but you can intend dreaming from your
astral body with ease.

You can of course combine this simple exercise with: The Death Defier's twin positions; Lonewolf's "moving the AP with the third eye" and
many other techniques.

Happy dreaming!
