Gates Of The Second Attention
#1
There are seven gates to dreaming. Once all gates have been reached then the dreamer becomes the dream. So to speak.
Remember intent? It is with intent and energy the warrior enters each gate of the second attention to finally reach the third attention. The second attention is the world of dreaming.
Where the warrior begins his quest.
Where it all starts. A stalker is born from stalking the second attention in the first attention.
To begin:
Set up dreaming. When you say as an example that you enter a forest where there is a tree that is larger than the others.
Your task is to become "aware" your in a dream. Use the tree as the first starting point of your dream awareness. Begin to inventory other elements in the dream. When you begin to fade from the dream return to your starting point..the tree. Then begin again if you can. Look at your hands as Carlos did or find something else you brought from the first attention with you into the second attention.
Use intent to have your dreaming body remember this tree. Then when you can dream again remember the tree as you fall asleep and intent to go to the dream/tree again.
A warrior uses intent to build such awarenesses into his dreaming body.
I use a tree as and example. It can be anything. A village. A former home. A person. Etc.
The First Attention..normal waking perception.
The Second Attention...dreaming with awareness.
The Third Attention..perception of both attentions at the same time.
Remember each gate is an wall you must cross.
We will discuss more on the gates as we go.
Save your questions about the other gates until you master the first one.

Perfecting the dreaming body. This is the goal.
Becoming aware. Focusing on objects in dreams. Using foreign energy.

Seeing one's body asleep from your dreaming body. Rise out of yourself!

YOU may see friend that the gates of the second attention correspond to geographically definable areas. For instance the Second gate of dreaming is located high on a desert plain. . . . . in the twin cities of Palomas, NM. Right next to the Threes Sister's and the Red and Black mountains. The Dragoon Mountain, it's twin referent, is a place where men fly over the mountains. YOU and I know this. It's sung about in Odes to the heroes of either position in what I've just said.
Remember how when donJuan the protege wanted to enter the Southerly Dreamers' Gate of Dreaming on the path to the nagual's house. He had to pass by two mastadon of women by their balley's so to speak. He sprinkled the ground with cris-cola so us Toltecs could find the way. There's the road to the nagual. . . . .
Even Lonewolf knows of there -land formations to pass by in each gate. Try rock gazing.

What about practicing Second Attention in normal waking life?

This is much easier for me, to simply be mindful while awake. If I am very mindful, practicing Vipassana / Mindfulness, then my dream life gets very clear.

But when I am not practicing a lot, due to work, family stuff, distractions, etc, I can't seem to get a hold on the dream life.

I attribute this to a lack of Second Attention in daily life.

I ran across a text on Tibetan Dream Yoga. It's very helpful. It involves saying a Mantra as you are going to sleep, along with of course establishing
intent.

It's helpful, but I've not had the clarity in dreaming I had when I was practicing intensely.

Talking about dreaming, for me at least, the more I recapitulate, the more I dream. It is that simple,I am absolutely sure the gates will appear,if I continue to
recapitulate. The silence will be acrued, the more I recapitulate. The assemblage point will move, and my attention will hold it in place, the more I focus
attention on eliminating the self pity, that keeps me from recapitulating.Maybe one day I will recapitulate again;I have my list ready, that I wrote last
year.Maybe I will start to dream again, anyway.Maybe I will suddenly, out of the blue reach the third attention, because I know it is there, and I should be higher
than the average man;because I know there is another world here;I have seen it,and that is more than most can dream of-well they can dream of it.I think this
must be the dream,Iam dreaming-I am in a dream yes may carr aruno lone wolf dmateria if I have the intent alone that is enough -Intent-Intent-Intent I Intend
to offer a surrogate to the Eagle and I intend to wake up in the dream, not from the dream, and I intend to hold the memory of this beautiful magical earth with
it's mountains and deserts and I intend to realize that I am dreaming.........and you know what !intent is enough when judgement is suspended -that is how
the heyoka works - he is so funny and crazy look at him

Last night i was lucid dreaming and i remembered to look at my hands--at first i told myself i couldn't do it but the in "another voice" i said i
can do it and then i was able to look down and see them--when i have these fairly rare lucid dreams i am usually taken up by a creature with big leathery
wings(i din't see it in this dream but i assume it was there) and flown around and most often when i try to get it to take me where i want to go i
can't but i did manage to get it to swoop me over my purse which i left on the floor before going to sleep and i saw it too. I couldn't get it to take
me outside though. This same being used to take me to the city i moved to 6 years ago before i moved there and it flew ridiculously fast. Once again i am glad
i happened upon this forum where there are people who have experienced similar things--it's a relief and i expect i will learn much, Thanks
