planning to dream
#1
I woke this morning from one of those dreams that just makes me feel amazed. I put in some serious work in to dreaming for several years which consisted in writing my dreams down in as much detail as possible everyday, I have books and books full of thoughts and dreams. I had a crisis in my life and stopped writing things down altogether but have acquired a focus which enables me to pick up my knowledge from where I left off, awesome! I suppose this is left side knowledge as it is knowledge about dreams, it is for me like a feeling of depth and I suppose clarity which makes my ordinary dreams seem more real!

One thing that has struck me as fascinating in learning about dreams is firstly the scope with which we, in dreaming, inhabit vast environments and can fill them with characters who are aspects of our selves. Secondly an occurrence I have become very familiar with are the environments I return to again and again, remembering dreams within dreams and being able to navigate.

One such place, the place I dreamed last night is an underground system of tunnels which always gives me a feeling of being a special dream. I once became so excited by journeying further in to the tunnels that I woke myself up. I feel like my dream locations are connected and I often visit places again and again. I feel my dreams often reflect my state of mind and these dreams that feel special to me are often prophetic, meaning that they seem to overlap my sense of time, like I can watch the future coming in to being as if I had already predicted it in a dream.

Last night I had planned to dream. I had been trying for a week or so remembering every so often that my attempts had failed but persistence is the key and our inner knowledge is working effectively behind the scenes making our wishes happen, making connections and assessing our feelings. I realized again this morning that I do not want to remember my dreams, it is like knowing that I need exercise and not being bothered to do it but the positive thing is that dreaming is a snowball effect, once we start to get experience it begins to accumulate and becomes something more tangible and less vague.

Anyway enough of my ramblings, I have captured the feeling of my accumulated experience of dreams and if I hold this feeling I will add to it and find out what this underground system of tunnels is and why it feels special, why I go there and what may be possible next!

cool you are excited about dreaming. i get that way too. i also used to record every dream i had and found that the more i focused on them the more i would remember them. i got to a point that i could, upon waking, remember the different dreams i was having and the recall was so vivid that i could re-enter the dream through my memory. it led me to the knowledge that memories can provide a gateway to the actual place you are remembering. now i take it further to connect and to channel from different sources using my attention as a connective link that i can focus and aim. Nowadays I am more focused into my stalking then in my dreams, but my intent is to expand my dreaming again. I am usually very good at 'planning' my dreams from a waking state but my awareness in dreams, although very fluid and often powerful, is lacking a daily awareness connection. My awake self rarely comes into play during my dreams. Not that i am complaining because in my dreams i often have superb awareness way beyond my daily self, and to tell the truth i wouldn't want to spoil that awareness, but the awareness that i am dreaming is not present usually. A lot of people place huge emphasis on reaching the lucid state in dreaming and act as if that is the greatest achievement one can attain in dreaming. I see it as a fixation to our daily awareness and can be limiting to our perception while dreaming. To be aware that one is dreaming often implies the suggestion that since you are in a dream what you are experiencing is not real or made up from within the confines of your mind. People think they know what dreaming is, and most people carry the same handbag of knowledge that is the norm. Dreams are a reflection of your inner mind, or the subconscious landscape.(very limiting) Some believe that their higher self is communicating to them in dreamscape symbolism. Many simply believe that dreams are your mind going over the details of your day in order to process information. (also very limiting and attached to the daily position) What i see is that all this knowledge about dreaming is correct but the more you know about dreaming the more you will dream. As your awareness fills out and reaches different positions of knowledge so will your experience match because you are intending your dreaming from your waking knowledge. I used to explore the different definitions of dreams and reach those states of perceiving but i realized that my expectations and my knowledge of dreaming was getting in the way of what i trully sought, freedom and the unknown. I have developed different ways to see my dreams, different forms and lay-outs, different definitions and parameters, but i cant help but wonder what else is out there that i don't know? I measure my knowledge and hold it out to infinity and watch it become smaller, until i reach a point where i dont know anymore what dreams are or what they can become. At this point they can be anything.
