ok I'm slightly freaked out to say the least!
I'm an insomniac and suffer from countless nights of restless and disturbed sleep but I've been having strange experiences for a while now. Last night
I yet again had trouble getting to sleep and was in a restful state yet fully aware of my surroundings, this in when I get my experiences. I felt myself what
felt like leave my body. I could see my bed but I wasn't in it. I was lead by a force dragging me away from my room to a dark place. Here there was an
almost exact replication of a corridor in my 6th form center... I say almost exact because there was something not quite right about it, I cant say what but I
didn't like it. anyway fully aware of what I was seeing I tried to imagine myself walking out only to be dragged back (and this is the freaky part)by my
insides! I could actually see my insides being dragged in front of me and they were pulling my body with it. I was stuck here for what seemed like ages and
only came around when I gathered all of my strength and just kind of fell back into my body. I have always had vivid dreams but they've never been so
sinister or terrifying. I woke up with a tear on my face. has anyone else had a similar feeling? like they are trapped and scared. is it normal for such things
to feel so realistic? did I astral project when I felt I wasn't in my body? I didn't feel free like I could fly like some people have said. I felt like
I was being forced to go to this place. help!

Often when we are in quite dire straits in our dreaming we
become quite lucid and have very good recall.
Your restless nights and nightmares are an attack upon
you.You will need to gather your energy through meditation.
Explora what do you see in this?

Hi safi,
Sounds like a very strange lucid dream. Interesting to read, but I gather it wasn't too much fun . When you're tired, you may often find yourself in a lucid state of awareness. The only annoyance with this, is that it is sometimes difficult to know what you plan to do. Try keeping a plan of what you wish to do in this state in the background of your mind, so when something like this happens again you will remember.
The two techniques below (which come from one of Castaneda's books) work very well as a simple approach for entering dreaming, and achieving a certain wish in such a state.
Entering Dreaming
The best way to enter into dreaming is to concentrate on the area just at the tip of the sternum, at the top of the belly. The attention needed for dreaming stems from that area. In my case, I like to imagine golden light energy radiating outwards from the sternum, and up through my body. I just focus my attention on this process, while I rest.
Using the Will
The energy needed in order to move and to seek in dreaming stems from the area an inch or two below the belly button. That energy is the will , or the power to select, to assemble your perception.
If you find yourself paralysed or with little control in a dream, focusing on this point while gently guiding your intent to break away from this state and become fully in control, is the single most effective technique I have used.
Also, I would call astral projection, something that it is attainable within the lucid dreaming state. It is not necessarily an either/or situation.
Hope that helps,

with your help and guidance I last night managed to walk away from a nasty dream in which I would have been disassembled by strange devil like creatures. Again I felt trapped at first but then managed to over come that paralyzed feeling. I'm also writing a horror book using my dreams as a basis which has already attracted the interest of a publisher.
Thanx from a less freaked out safi

thats great safi.. well done!!
i had a lucid dream much like yours after a little while i read yours... hehe it was a very strange expereince
DOUBLE DREAM BODY
I become lucid in my bedroom, and can feel what appears to be my actual physical body, lying next to me. It is a strange and unusual feeling, as I break free from it. I can still see an energetic outline of my 1st body, and my neck crinks a little as I move about. What's even stranger is that my 1st body moves around with me. Noticing this, I decide to pick it up. I take hold of it in my hands - lifting it is as difficult as lifting a real person. I begin to wonder what's happenign to my real physical body - what if it's actually walking around my own bedroom with me. I am quite bewildered, and try and open my bedroom door. I soon find myself in my parents room.
They seem to be asleep and I'm standing beside their bed. I see our cat Bobo, and gaze into her eyes, as if to say 'hi'. Movement is very difficult - and this is mainly due to the retention of this second body - which I now realise is not my physical body. Mentally, I have an okay understanding of what is happening, but can't think of any way out of it. Insted, I start dancing around in a small circle. My arms raised above my head - like a doll. I feel just like a sleepwalker would, and I see my mum look up at me. Scared out of her wits, she puts her arms over her eyes - as if to pretend it isn't happening. As I wake, I see a residual image of me remaining around their room. Strange stuff!

Wow! Pretty weird stuff! But whats stranger is that I can relate to what your saying. I often find myself outside my body yet still with my body, like the time a man tried to strangle me. I was lying in bed and at first I thought I was dreaming until I realise I could control where I went. I found my self, wandering around my room with my body close behind me. Repeating the actions of my outer body with a split second difference. It was hard to move my physical body around yet I could not break free from it. The man appeared beside me and grabbed my sheets from my bed, tied them around my neck and dragged me through onto my landing. I don't know what happened after that because it felt like I passed out, as I couldn't breathe. In the morning I woke up across the threshold of my bedroom door and the landing with a sheet wrapped around my neck. My neck was all bruised where the sheet had been and the sheet was stretched out leading away from my bedroom door like I had been dragged.I also had nail marks around my neck where I must have grabbed at the sheets.
this experience is going into my book.

hey safi.
i've been meaning to reply to this post for so long. it was such a sTRange Dream. I've never heard anything like it before.
Your experience will go in my collection too.. I was thinking of keeping a set of stories on my site (
www.dreamofpeace.net) about other's dreams. Yours would be a good one on the interaction of the physical and dremaing body. Tell me if this would be okay or not.
your dream is very powerful.. it must have been a relief to wake up from it.
