Gyros, frauds, gods, and other leaders are ABUNDANT in this day and age. Follow me! Do it this way! No, not that way! These ways!
All ways?
It must feel like a daunting task to listen to people preach. Feels like I'm sitting in church again, my ears filled with the echoes of enthused sermons between well-timed naps.
Please.
Nobody can tell you how to live a better, more enlightened or spiritual life besides yourself. This doesn't mean to turn everyone away, simply take pieces of everyone you come across; pieces which you can apply to your live to enhance whatever aspect of it you want and toss the rest.
No reason to have an all or nothing approach to people. Everyone can offer some inspiration, a good technique, kind words, possibly even moving sermons if you're fortunate to find something which resonates that well. If you completely jive with someone, wonderful. If not, who really cares? I sure don't. Others shouldn't either.
Yet sadly they do care.
Others care about how we live our lives, so that we fit better within their perspective of how the world should function. They have our destinies pinned down for us and all we must do is their well-rehearsed methods! Do A, then B, and if you don't get to C then you must have done A wrong. Go back and redo A.
Uh huh. Right.
No matter which circle you roam to, whether it be a book-club discussion, BDSM gathering, Comicon convention, you will always find varying viewpoints on any topic. Motivated individuals who swear they are right, that you must follow their ways or you'll miss out on something ginormous.
Uh huh.
In the end, it's you who must decide if you even want their end-version of reality to also be yours. You might do ALL that work to find out you hate where you've ended up. That's always a pity. I've done that a number of times (I'm a slow learner). Fortunately I've figured it out well enough thus far; only model those I admire. Consume the ripened fruit and leave the rest at the kiosk.
Think for yourself. If not, somebody else will do it for you.
