In order to uplift others you must first uplift yourself.
I never liked this statement because I didn't know what it meant. Like so many of the Toltec sayings. The one that got me the most was Heart. A path with Heart, A Heart is an organ in the body, I thought and struggle as i may that was the only way I could see it. Real meaning never occurs until you personally make that connection.
I still am ever surprised by how the same old words I always read take on new meaning, like oh now I get it.
I had read that there is such thing as an interrelationship of life an interconnectedness of things and that through that relationship a warrior uplifts all those around him. it would be years before I could actually make a conscious effort to align myself with this aim and I believe that it was being stuck in my world view that prevented me from realizing this aim. A big part of this process is becoming inclusive. There is a part in a CC book where Don Juan explains that the Spirit of Man reveals itself constantly to all people but that only Warriors were capable of perceiving this for what it is. (in the distance a Dog just barked in agreement!)
It is clear to me that to claim ones personal power one must accept responsibility for ones self within the greater whole which is humanity. in order to avoid my challenges i have all but cut myself off from humanity which is really sad considering that everything I could possibly learn about myself and life is right out side on my door step, in my street, round every corner. To know that my every thought and feeling has an effect on those around me is a BIG response ability and this is why a Warrior can only afford to live impeccably. He either does so or perishes on the Battlefield.

The only failure in life is the failure to fight
I never got that one either but here's hoping : ) I hope my words are more than just self absorbed arrogance, or distorted wishful thinking, I hope that at least there is shred of truth.
