It has come to my attention that humans quite often do not fully understand the difference between the foreign installation and what are commonly called "flyers". And yet, for every warrior who seeks to embrace freedom beyond the eagle, it is vitually important to comprehend the forces at work which will attempt to thwart your evolution at some point and, in reality, at EVERY point.

The best way to understand the foreign installation might be to think of it as Jung's "collective unconscious" - essentially the hive mind of humanity at large, the shared belief systems and cultural/social foundations which make up what you think of as "the normal assemblage point of humanity." The truth is that this "normal" assemblage point of humanity is actually one of the most ABnormal assemblage points in the natural kingdom, because it is utterly and absolutely false when one really begins to examine it.

Why is this so? Is it sinister? Is there some alien force known as "the flyers" at work?

No.

The "normal assemblage point of Man" is what it is because it represents the lowest common denominator of human experience and human beliefs. The hive exists not because it is right or wrong, but simply because it is the commonly SHARED foundation of the majority of human beings, and so it has "settled" into the mind/body/spirit of the species. The fact that it has become "second nature" doesn't mean it is natural at all. 

What IS it? It is cultural and social gravity. If viewed as gravity, it becomes easier to visualize the thing itself. Think of all the combined/shared belief systems of humanity at their most fundamental level: "fire is hot, water is wet, all things die, the sky is blue, blood is red..." and so on. All of these beliefs actually "orbit" the collective hive of Man, making up his most fundamental beliefs and providing him with conclusions which may or may NOT be the least bit accurate. In most cases, the foreign installation hands out easy answers, much like a parent trying to tell a young child about the birds and the bees. In reality, birds and bees have nothing to do with human reproduction anymore than telling a child that "grandma went to heaven to be with god" has anything to do with human spirituality. Easy answers. That's the stock in trade of the foreign installation. It keeps humans complacent and provides them with a social/cultural/spiritual structure under which they can operate. The fact that their foundation is written on water is entirely irrelevant, because the majority of humans will never question it, never realize it, and therefore never move beyond its comforting confines. Everything is a choice, and that is THEIR choice. 

Where do the flyers come in? Simply put, the flyers described in Castaneda's work are nothing more than shadows created by fear. So many warriors fear the flyers are eating their awareness, or draining their energy, when the actuality is that the warrior's fear creates the reality in which the warrior is losing awareness and energy - not because any extant flyer is nibbling away at the fringes of his energy, but because his BELIEF that it is happening creates the reality wherein it IS happening. 

So is there a flyer, whether it existed before or after one creates it? No. It is an imagined fear, manifested, which does not exist as an extant being unto itself. Put another way, if there were no humans on earth, there would be no flyers. The flyers are transient tulpas, energetic manifestations created by thought and, especially, by fear.

As the warrior moves through his daily life, it's important to truly grasp these things, because until that occurs, the warrior has been programmed (moreso than even the ordinary humans with whom s/he shares the planet) to think s/he is being consumed by flyers and controlled by the foreign installation. But while both exist within the realm of possibility, NEITHER can be forced to go through the motions of actually occurring UNLESS the warrior relinquihes his awareness and surrenders to fear or false belief.

I had thought this was obvious to all serious warriors, but recent dialogs have proven otherwise.  Clearly, this is my personal opinion.  Not seeking agreement or argument.  Just putting some additional knowledge into the blender.  Yes, this is much simplified, but hopefully adequate to stimulate one's own thought processes.

To say that the flyers do not exist unless you believe in them contradicts the original grand revelation about the origins of the foreign installation. As Castaneda tells it, when Don Juan showed and told him about the flyers, he resisted the idea in a manic way. In my own experiences, I 'knew' something was up in my own life - a kind of foreign entity that was hanging about especially in dreams with a reoccuring feel, long before I knew anything about the flyers as described by Castaneda. At the time I thought it was only affecting me, that there was something about me in particular that had picked up this thing which tried to be a kind of big brother watching me and I did not particularly care for it.

I think this was a great way to discover the existance of the flyers, having found about it through my own devices first to later have it clarified and elaborated on via Castaneda's revelations. So in a way, the revelations about the flyers are just the reverse of what you propose...
Getting control of fear, becoming lucid in waking life and dreams, and practicing internal silence, detaches you from the flyer so you can see it from the outside. When that happens it vexes the foreign installation which will often look at you as if not sure what to do (until it decides to go ahead and attack again), and fascinates the perciever. The fascination may later turn into fear and this is understandable. Eventually you haveto come to a point where you say to yourself 'This is jsut the way it is and I can't do much about it." For a time I was so distraught that my species is infected that I became anti-social and averse to relationships and family. In my opinion this is one of the worst things you can do. Even though we are all under assault, you can still take comfort with your fellow man so long as you don't get entrapped in too much drama (this is stalking I think).

Onto your earlier points about the hive-mind.
I think you are right. Somehow over the last six to twenty thousand years our species discovered language, art, and a way of communication that requires thinking as we know it today. So the minds share a collective belief system. The problem is that often the belief systems do us no justice and are suspiciously stupid or unsophisticated. It encourages people to take at face value exactly what they are told without observing the data themselves. Over time we have become docile thinkers, and will gladly think based only on what we are taught. 

Let me quote Christopher Hitchens here as I notice some fascinating parallels...
" I mean to say it infects us in our most basic integrity. It says we can't be moral without Big Brother, without Totalitarian permission. Means we can't be good to one another without this. We must be afraid. We must also be forced to love someone who we fear. The essence of sadomasochism. The essence of humiliation. The essence of the master-slave relation. And that knows that death is coming and can't wait to bring it on."

He is actaully talking about religion here. Don juan says about the flyers "They give us their beliefs."

I find it fascinating how most religions hold certain things in common, in spite the fact that they may have arisen in totally seperate parts of the world. Especially when it comes to say 'Our way of thinking is right, yours is not." Even though they are so similar in their beliefs.

So enters science and the age of reason...a step up to be sure. Science strives to observe without bias or emotion. It attempts to prove whether something is true by repeatable experiments and verification - it is what sorcerors might call a high form of stalking. Seers have to adapt a sober view, and not one weighted down by self-importance as this is the origin of all delusion. Religion, including new-age hippies, are very threatened by this. The reason is because science rarely emphasizes the 'self' which is what the flyers apparently need us to do to be able to feed off of us. We are kind of like chickens being injected with hormones (which is self-indulgent thinking) so that we will grow the best meat possible. We are bred and taught to multiply fruitfully. We are told what to think in a way that emphasizes flashes of self-centered emotion, especially fear. Anyone who represents a departure from collective self-absorption is persecuted in society.

A fascinating thing to think about, is that I wonder if the predators realize the destruction they are inflicting upon the earth itself. Greed and laziness leads big industry and capitalism to carelessly destroy the eco-system as evidenced by global warming, and if that continues it will mean the severe reduction of the human population - their food source. This could happen, as our own species have overhunted others into extinction or endangerment on multiple occasions. So you see why the struggle against the foreign installation is a very seriouse and pragmatic one and has many fronts.

After watching the movie - DIVERGENT, a Friend retorted:

"The Economy is the master and everyone is it's slave..."

I answered him with:

are there any Economies for "paying" for the "Airlife force" that animates the "slaves" ?/ or will there come a time when they have to pay for this "benefit" ? or is it viable to consider/re-consider and wonder....is there any ECONOMY between Heaven and Earth ?, is Earth the Slave of Heaven to say ?.
 If not....then the "Travailing machines/slaves" of Earth create the so-called Economy that enslaves them. They don't pay for the air they breathe, nor the Heat from the Sun, but they are made to pay for "drinking water" and other Elements which they have been originally supplied with naturally entirely for FREE....( What if for every seed that sprouts from the Earth...it first asked the "slaves" for payment? ).....and yet the "slave's" appetites/desires for taking and taking from the Earth       (Oil, Gold etc) are insatiable. ironically the Earth gives of its self to these "machines" over and over again, replenishing, regenerating itself over and over again and again as the "slave" also keeps on taking and taking and taking. if this is the Economy of "KNEELING for Benefits", then the slave should not even lament/complain. let the machine/slave in its comfortable routine of mediocrity and hypocrisy within the "cage" keep on taking and taking and taking...( But not every one in the "Cage" is a "Slave". The "Masters" can as well unleash their "Plan C & D" and "Spray" the "Divergents" in the "cage". you can "Spray" them but that does not mean you Own their  assemblage point

I saw a video seminar about a man who lives in South Los Angeles who, distraught by the obesity and bad health in lower income communities due to fast food on every corner and very little good food in small grocery stores, began planting community food gardens on unused public property. The community goes and helps and this supplements their diet, and its all free!
On my block my grandfather (who is now 87) has a very exquisite garden of mostly greens, carrots, sometimes squash, okra and corn. I help out whenever I can (although not as much as I SHOULD). Yesterday that food was half of my meal and it felt soooo good.

Similarly, we have the technology and square mileage to use solar panels for ALL our energy needs and more-so. Checked on converting the house - its really doable but cannot afford the down payment yet , looking into maybe some partial conversions. But power is mostly for air-conditioning and computer and other ways can be found to get this like fire-place or wood burning stove vs central heat, proper venitlation vs AC, artful lamps or candles vs lights etc
