From the Art of Dreaming:
"Upon awakening I gave don Juan, at his request, a complete description of what I had seen and done. He warned me that it was not possible to rely on
my rationality to understand my experience, not because my rationality was in any way impaired but because what had taken place was a phenomenon outside
the parameters of reason.
I, naturally, argued that nothing can be outside the limits of reason; things can be obscure, but sooner or later reason always finds a way to shed light
on anything. And I really believed this.
Don Juan, with extreme patience, pointed out that reason is only a by-product of the habitual position of the assemblage point; therefore, knowing
what is going on, being of sound mind, having our feet on the ground sources of great pride to us and assumed to be a natural consequence of our worth are
merely the result of the fixation of the assemblage point on its habitual place. The more rigid and stationary it is, the greater our confidence in
ourselves, the greater our feeling of knowing the world, of being able to predict."

Reason is a human brain function and a product of the foreign installation. It gives us choice and cements the assemblage point of our society's views.
Reason will also makes us believe that we rely on our senses which are limited to a very small part of the world around us.

Well heck, Lonewolf. I must disagree here. Surely Reason, Rationality, is not of the FI. It's apples and oranges. Reason has its place, but has been given too prominent a place in our affairs. We know that some things cannot be reasoned or explained. I would say that modern, technical society has forgotten , or has been convinced, that Nagual, or as I might call it , Body, language exists (that is, to learn action beyond thought-primitive know-now). This is difficult for one like myself. For, as I recognize an unseen power, unseen to most people, and that religions confuse that knowledge with doctrines, I know that it is there. I know, from experience, and finally identifying the nature of that experience, the reality of the non-rational world. Perhaps it is best to say that Reason is a base function, applied to mechanical issues, and there is its limitation.
Now, what about Emotions? That's where we really get into trouble! Lately, I see the balance as being able to master our minds rather than being mastered by them. Maybe the Zen man has a word or two about that!

I'm not the zen man but emotions are fine if we allow them be and flow instead of repressing them and clinging to any narrative we might have that goes along with them, they are essential helpers in finding the path with a heart for me.

What if we embraced all our emotions as being good, positive, no matter what. I wonder what would happen? Would be very interesting to try. Not just allow them to be experienced but to see them as something so acceptable, healthy and appropriate, which sounds along the lines of what you suggest here. We have all leaned how to discern our emotions and make choices, but were never instructed to really not-discern them and see what happens then. And that's akin to the Adam and Eve story where they don't discern while in Eden and then tasting from the tree of knowledge causes discernment and cause and effect and naming things good and bad accordingly. Before that, its seems it was all good : ) So the change (biting the apple) was the "bad" entering into perception.

"While in the Tonal, no time for irrational nonsense. While in the Nagual, no time for rational nonsense." DJM.
I rest my case.

Hi Wei Shan Yang,
No-one will ever know how things were, before the advent of "civilisation", simply because, no-one kept written records, (coz, they could,nt write,).
The idea that, the concept of "bad" only came into our perception with the advent of "civilisation", seems unsupportable to me. All living creatures are require to discern positive from negative in order to survive. "Biting the apple" refers to a different type of knowledge. The story is allegorical, like much of the content of the Christian bible.
As you refer to the Old Testament, you may be interested to know that, (or, may already know that,), the Book of Genesis, was written during the period refered to as, "the Babylonian exile", during which, the tribe of David were enslaved by the Babylonian empire.
The Babylonians were one of the successor cultures which followed the ancient Sumerians, (long after they were conquered by the Akkadians,), and inherited much of thier culture and ideas.
The term "Eden"is Sumerian. The Sumerians refered to the fertile grasslands where they grew thier crops and kept thier livestock, as "Edin", (pronounced the same way,).
The Genesis tale refers to thier choice to abandon the wild lifestyle in favour of city dwelling, (with all that accompanies that choice,). Actually, the ancient Sumerian tale of how man came to be civilised, is far more interesting, but, I'll let you look into that, yourself.
Much of the material in the Old Testament, is borrowed from earlier or contemporary cultures,........ eg, the story of Noah and the Flood, which first appears in the Epic of Gilgamesh, and even, the earliest names of God, which refer to God as El, as in "El Shaddai",(God of the mountain,), or, "Elohim", literally, "the children of God".
El was used to refer to specific gods in various Middle Eatern religions of the time, and also, as a general term for any god.
To view the material in the Christian bible as, anything other than, allegorical, is simplistic and naive.
I notice that, despite the content of these forums, some members seem to show way too much respect for the hodge-podge of nonsense called "The Bible".
A peculiarly American obsession, it would seem. Maybe, it,s the influence of all those TV preachers?
Shoot that fucking TV!!!
PS; if, you have just read this, I have to ask, why? Have,nt you got anything better to do, than, reading the ravings of a demented Haggis?

serendipity, yeah I actually have mentioned it's only an allegory elsewhere in the forum. I don't know too much about the bible actually, just the stories that have become infamous in cultural exchanges. To me I play with myth at times, just as a means to communicate insights that would otherwise be less tangible and structured visually.
If I shot the TV my landlord would make me pay for it, as its his, lol. But no American preachers climb into the TV anyway. Some monkey king and pig/human characters working with lord Rama once in a while. And this weird action series featuring a bunch of Asian actors and a few expats (whities) who beat up these bad guys by flying through the air and delivering kung fu chop. What's really weird is the monkey king and pig have figured out how to time travel now and are showing up in the action series era.

I find it rather telling that you left the arrow I slung at Lunoor but took off the one poking fun at moderators. Could we have a moderatorial from you on this matter?
