Hi Anthony,
I would like to hear more on the Plumed Serpent or Winged Serpent.
Here are some photos of a totem I carved of this serpent.
It is used as a totem on a Native American flute.

I am of the opinion that this is one of those alegorical legends which bridges many belief systems. I relate it to the Serpent Fire or kundalini of India and the rod of Moses which turned into a serpent.
Also the serpent as seen on the crowns of Pharoahs on their foreheads. And in fact their whole head dress seems to imply the cowl or hood of a serpent ready to strike.
It is my belief that the kings chamber in the Great Pyramid ("fire in the middle") of Giza was used as an initiation chamber to usher Pharoahs into the beginning of this process. The use of the sarcophagus would then have been a kind of Baptism (being buried and rising again to a new, different life). This would account for the belief that the pharoahs were "gods", so to speak having gone beyond normal men because of the experience that this ceremony was trying to bring about.
The descending Plumed Serpent at Chitchen Itza sp? would agree with my teacher's belief and that of the Qabala that the Kundalini does not start at the location of the tailbone, but comes from far "above" and "outside of us. (The "winged" or "Plumed" serpent) comes down through the Crown chakra and down the spine where it then turns and rises from the tailbone area.
The Plumed Serpent at Chitchen Itza only appears at the Spring Equinox when everything is in balance. There and then it is seen descending the side of the staircase just as Spirit descends into the initiate and then becoming the serpent fire it rises.Bob

Hey I took a look at your work "Very Nice"You seem to be a pretty knowledgable person.I have almost completed Joseph Campbells' autobiography"fire in the mind"in this book there are several referances I would like to read in accordance with other forms of mythology. But up to now in my life I have over indulged in the works of Carlos C.I really like the toltec myth that implies that the serpant can be formed with a representation of the four types of personalities of human kind. With the nagual woman advancing first as the beacon for the rest of the formation,in order that they might fly to freedom. The idea of forming this energetic represantation of humanity and dying;or leaving with a group is a beautiful idea in my mind. Are there any other cultures with similarities?

Hi Anthony,
I was just reminded of the Inyo animation by Aranno. It seems to by related. In this animation caused by the movement of the sun across the stones a serpent is seen crawling across the rocks, going over an abyss and eating an egg.
This would relate well to Kundalini as applied to the Tree of Life of the Qabala. The initiate, helped by the serpent fire reaching across the Abyss of Daath (knowledge) and becoming one with some aspect of the supernal triangle probably the Sphere of Kether (First Sephirah or emanation). This Sephirah is symbolised by a white sphere.
The egg would symbolize going back to the Source of our being.
The Inyo are said to be monotheistic in this article.
Here is the link.

I don't know much about it but it is very interesting and brings to mind the same type ofsolar animation at Chitzen Itza. Both happen at the equinoxes.Bob
