Hope
#1
Hope is not wishful thinking coming from a desperate emotional state, nor it's telling yourself that it's all going to be OK while you anxiously struggle in your everyday life affairs.

Hope is a heart-felt notion that there are good thing out there, waiting for you. That there is joyful and pleasant things to find.

It's a sign of a healthy heart that hasn't known the ugly side of being alive.

The problem is that if a person gets enough punches in life, hope becomes something to disbelieve in, something that is unreasonable and useless, an indulgence.

As reasonable as that sounds in one's head, the fact is that if your heart has nothing to look forward to your will to live diminishes drammatically. There are no interests in large endevours and you tend to be in general terribly afraid of loosing whatever you have going on for yourself.

My recommendation for this matter is taoistic in Spirit: Accept hope... leave room for it in. Don't reject it. Clear the heavy emotional history... go back to the original state, for without hope, you wouldn't last long in this world.

Babies that are left alone for too long, for instance, who don't recieve caring, human contact and affection simply stop wanting to live and die. If we reached a certain age, it means that, at some point, we had things to look forward. Don't close yourself to such possibilities in the name of good reason and bad experiences. You are only choking yourself to death.

rubbish!basicly...

hope IS telling yourself everything is going to be OK while you struggle through everyday affairs..
It may be a sign of a healthy heart that hasnt known the struggles or ugly side of life..... but then it is not the sign of a heart of warriorship.. which perseveres through all struggles ..preciseley beacause hope exists..

If a person gets enough punches in life they become strong! hope becomes something philosophical.. you can hope for the easy things to bless you.. but hey the other way is still gonna make you strong!

Ive spent many a day cracking up under the pressures of life... But the funny thing is WE know we cannot be destroyed by anything but our OWN REACTIONS to worldly events...

its eciting to lose everything! Gamblers dont just gamble to get rich.. they gamble to lose as welll... guilty filthy acts of stupidity.. that have them soulfully getting drunk in the lounge as they re-mortgage their homes..
MY recommendation for this matter is to accept CHALLENGE make room for challenge in your life.. prepare yourself for strains on your body, your mind and your emotion.. relish the chance to become strong while you wrestle the whims of fate...KNowing that your mind, and your emotions and your body will all be dead and gone one day... and all you have to fuel your infinite journey is the power you fought with during their total and gradual anihillation in life...

Should the GOOD THINGS that most men dream of happen in the middle of your expectation of challeneg..
then yes.. SNIFF THE ROSES, dance a JIG, make love and not war!.. BUt it is only a respite from warriorship.. and certainly not an ideal...

otherwise your only going to be dissapointed with your life as it unfolds truthfully!

and that sort of false expectation is depressing!

I like both responses in this thread. The first one is about expecting positive things to happen when in your past you had negative things happen so you developed a repetitious groove, so to let go of that and accept positivity as a given. Intend it.

The second post is about taking refuge in strength to handle any situation utilizing challenges. Seeing challenges as opportunities. Being able to stand in the face of utter defeat and smile, lol.

So both can be combined.

Hehe, you'll certainly get punched in life, but that's not something I look forward. My point is that hope makes you stand up again. Zero hope is either dying and/or being fully in the present.

Funny, isn't it?

Its not that funny...

I dont agree with your tone or definition of hope in the slightest"

call it gut instinct!

Ive stood on a high branch of a tree and considered stepping off as an act of intent! just to crash through to another dimension and leave a futile looking corpse as a launchpad!

but that was one of the happiest days of my youth!

Ive also been insaneley challeneged by life.. and driven to despair of the lack of common humanity man should have but seems to want to wrestle for power first and equality second!

and ive stood on top of the multistory carpark and looked down...

and havent jumped..even though its been the most hideous miscarriage of reality that has precipitated events...

i havent jumped because Nothing in this world will ever make me quit!.....

Do you get me!

I ONLY MOVE TO GET SOMEWHERE ELSE IN THE UNKNOWN

I DONT EVER MOVE TO ESCAPE SOMETHING I CANT HACK IN THE KNOWN

If you are going to define hope as being in MY future as if its a generic thing that all people have in their future..

you want to make darn sure that the UNKNOWN is what you hope for..

becasue its what i hope for"

anything else is actually offensive to the warrior spirit!

like wei shan yang says...

escaping a repetitive groove you yourself have established!!!

its called polarisation...

you see something you dont want from your social conditioning.. and hope it to change...

and as such in your desire to "CHANGE" you never let go of the thing you are trying to avoid because of your own resistance.. and so NOTHING changes...CATCH 22

MY METHOD!

You find something that scares the **** out of you more and in a totally radicly different way to the things you wish to change...

and as the unknown overwhelms your entire life including your social conditioning.. you MOVE toward it.. dragging your legs against the flow.. and bleeding insanity in your skull!

By the time you take three steps toward it you have a whole new set of problems to deal with!

but at least your not directly polarising with your social conditioning!

more jumping into chaos in order to escape logic. "whatever that may be".

FEAR makes you walk toward it or run away depending on your character..

death makes you run toward it.. or it goes unnoticed depending on what sort of character you are!

If i ever jump off a building. i will be screaming fuckyou until i hit the floor!

Deep down in your heart you can feel hope. Through all the pain and hopelessness deep deep down below that, there is a light at the end of a tunnel of darkness. Deep in your heart you feel your future. Deep down in your heart you feel your past. Everything that is you. All you have become. Your are only a feeling. Thats all we are, just a feeling. Our souls cry, scream in anger, sit in agonizing pain from guilt, long for their love, feel fullfilled, happiness. The feeling of your heart, this all you are, and all you are to become.

My personal view on hope ( btw hope is false word according to Dr. Castaneda, or Heidegger or anyone else):

i feel happy if i am contented ( zufrieden in german) with what i have.. i am only loosing if i am not temporarily contented.. thats loosing temporarily.. retrospectively i say i have lost, and i have lost a much deal, by

not being contented... self pity is not good term for that.. because that feeling is complete ilussion... illussion of loss leading to missing your life..

there is no hope. there is only happiness in this moment.. that sets free. so there is always hope, because this contendness i describe here works every time and sets free and brings happiness in every

mental and physical condition till the last breath

You, or WARRIOR, MUST be contented every time...

if you are not contented, you are making things worse...

Be contented.

The core of this knowledge is realization, or better to say easily corraborated truth by your own

body-mind consciousness, that this life is only and everything you have and it will completely end,

and what you feel, contented or not, although if and unless you feel contented, you feel happy..

To be contented is (instant) happiness.

We know here for sure that in the moment you are ok and contented, everybody feels good, and there

is ONLY good feeling in the MOMENT, only good feeling, even in the cases you are in physical pain.
