What occurs when someone hurts our feelings or we have a bad experience?
Defense of the Self! "Why that *****! S/he dissed me!" It's an automatic assault outward as opposed to looking inward.
It's a thinking thing. But is it? Is it true thinking or more assuming? I know from my personal experience it's a lot of assuming. Something occured that hurt my feelings and then I begin to assume. "Well, if this was the result that hurt my feelings, then that was what must have occured." Have you ever encountered this? Next thing you know all sorts of crazy assumptions take over. Next thing you know your're raging!
Then of course comes the justification, self pity and blame. "I know I'm right. Why would ***** pick on me? It's all his/her problem!"
Look at all this wasted energy! But is it really wasted? Nah, it's an opportunity if we look inward as opposed to projecting outward.
First, can anything affect us without us allowing it? Second, does it really matter if we look at this as a learning opportunity? Third, what do we learn and thusly what do we do with it?
Some ponderings on a beautifully cold night...
