what is the satisfaction in turning a room full of transistors into a chip ....as opposed to a perfectly executed geisha dance?
ask the inventor on his dying bed... did the hydro-pneumatics pacify his soul? is there anything he forgot to do in life? it is my contention that for most inventors the tinkering is mostly a way to escape society with its pesky demands for interaction... a way to escape community.

As simple as that. It could be designing a new milk crate..... or planting thistles... or perhaps even selling real estate
