Spiritual Starvation
First, what is spirit?
Can we agree that the modern western cultures are
spirit-starved?
So how did we come to this spiritually starved condition?
All of our physical needs are provided for by the Earth.
She is truly the Mother of this physical life and body.
But much more than our physical needs are met by her!
When our feet touch her, we receive the nurturing life
energy that only she can give.
Through that contact with her, we also release the ‘so-called’
negative energies that we accumulate.
When we live actively within her trees and eat her plants,
we feel the healing effects of her medicines in all our layers.
And when we live in harmony with her other children and
creatures, we build an environment of balance and limit our excesses.
She is much more than our physical mother.
So, again how did we come to this spiritually starved
condition as a culture?
It has happened because we have chosen to ignore the living
environment that she maintains.
We have replaced it, piece by piece, with a man made,
inanimate environment.
How often do we touch the Earth?
Compare that with more ‘spiritual’ cultures.
We’ve made a multitude of things to deliberately AVOID
touching her!
What about the things we surround ourselves with?
Again, compare with more ‘spiritual’ cultures.
Air conditioning, walls, fences, concrete, etc. We cut down
all her natural
plants and trees to have ‘space’.
How about the things we eat?
What about medicine and true healing or curing?
And news, media, etc...
It goes even further.
Any time we are fixed and focused on something enough to
ignore our environment,
we are in a semi-trance. The average person in the west is
in a trance 50-65% of the time.
Work, 15-25%, TV, books, internet, video games... 50-65%.
Muscles get weak. Brains get weak. Spirit doesn’t flow
through us because the attention is fixed.
Emotional infections don’t heal. Behaviors reflect our
imbalances.
We make machines to replace the use of our bodies.
Vehicles, planes, trains etc. create a huge living range
that reduces personal bonds, time with the Earth, and interactions.
Computers enhance our intellect, but reduce our spiritual
experience, our participation with the world, and our intelligence.
24/7 Phones replace personal touching, feeling, and talking.
Some of these things have value, but the spiritual balance
in every area is totally lopsided.
What are your actual daily activities? How often do you touch the earth and her children?
