Sock Puppet Humor

I was having a conversation with a friend once, we used to do this character story-telling with actual story arcs (we were super nerds).  After the city was in an uprising, I was joking and asked him, "What if the entire city population (of characters) are really just no more than five people with multiple characters.  It would be like we're just playing with ourselves."

It's a neat idea to realize that it could have even been merely two people playing with themselves via hundreds of characters.  His response to my suggestion was, "It very well could be."

The beauty with being comfortable with an assortment of characters is there's less to be mad about.  It's objective because none of the characters are real people.  The typist isn't the character, allowing the writers to engage without being invested.  Meta-gaming was never infuriating to me.  I love the notion of have multiple personalities to engage; it's quite exciting to know there are other creative geniuses out there in the population.  That and--I would be a hypocrite if I don't like metagaming since I do the same exact thing.

Anyway, it was an exciting conversation to discuss the "what if".
