Discourse on the Philosophy of Car Shopping
#1
carsI am having a subtle wrestle with Ebay at the moment.
I keep seeing goodish car deals and picking holes in them
such as----------------- "Hmm It doesn't seem right for my destiny""perhaps that cars previous owner was a man of the north and if i took it overit would fall off intelligent co-operation for my intent""perhaps if my car has 170 horsepower i will have a bad crash "OTHER" and shouldget something less powerfull that i can Redline without being actually very dangerous""perhaps a second buyer will perform a greater purpose within the unspeakable with this vehiclethan i can. my selfishness although beneficial for me today could have deeper implications forall of our futures in later manifestation of change".. etc..until PING.-someone else snaps them up and they are gone. i am left sitting, thinking, after the event fantasizing.."Oh if only i hadnt missed that car i would be doing "this OTHER" with it now"
1) Speculation on potential outcome of decisions ( OTHER as seen as future (EAST )  is leading to inactivity in making a decisions. _thats above)
2)Speculation on actions i could perform had i made alternative choice ("i could be doing this now instead of typing)(the OTHER as present (NORTH) is a waste of energy in terms of nowness, as this parralell world OTHER does not exist.if i am thinking about a different present how can i stop the world?(this is happening after the decision chance has gone)
3)Speculation on wether these cars would have already broken down, or been put through a hedge with me behind thewheel.my body already at the morgue. (The OTHER as past (WEST) -does not have any recapitulation truth in it.that dead body in my minds eye does not contain the root of my life it is some "other" soul.that living body in my minds eye also does not contain the root of my life is some OTHER soul.(this is happening after the chance to make decision has gone)
THE OTHER IS A TRICK, THE OTHER IS A VAMPIRE.
solution,
be aware...1)that energy is being lost to some alternative past. (west other)2)that energy is being lost to alternative present (north other)3)That energy is being lost to the never to manifest (east other)
that these others do not contain any truth of east. of north or of west.but the three together show an entire skin of energetic loss within totality.
The real recapitulation of your life is not the other.the real stopping the world is not the other.real decisions are not made in the other.
-perhaps when i look to choose a car i will see if itreminds me of recapitulation junctureschildhood scabs or the mumps.. a new pair of tiny shoes long outgrown.reminds me of my first decent go on a bicycle..
but even then.. a car that has poweful WEST energy for memay deprive anothers other when I move it, and they may be left thinkingabout other pasts..within the NORTH that which is west for me may once moved be plus or minus for their westunless within sight of the rose.i do want to co-operate.
powerul sorcery can deprive others of their energy.i believe our world should be able to collectivly form a second skini believe the habitual assemblage point has come of age.that a few sorceric egos must dieand all will be good and well.
It seems to me that the SOUTH
IS the other.for the nagual man the OTHER is to be normal manunfluid in folly.
If MEST was a vinyl record upon a player.
The west would be the outer spiral of the record grooves and the receipt from the shop it was boughtthe east would be the inner spiral of the records grooves and the timely payment of the electric billthe north would be the sound from speakers wether skip, crackle or beat.the south would be the whole record, the national grid, the entire music industry, his other is the STYLUS.
for the southerly man the OTHER is to be a normal man,
for east, west, and north men.. the OTHER is a vampire leading them to totality.
the purpose of the Yellow rose of friendship and intelligent co-operationis to ensure that when people work powerfully with the OTHERthat there are not any victims of greed or will.that a nostalgic man will not inspire regret in all he deals with.that a visionary will not instill catatonic fear in all he deals withthat a martial artist will not inspire violenceThat a cloud will not fear building charge within its formto be part of a single lightning strike.
that sort of bullshit.

That is the real thief of your energy."

Such beautiful bullshit.  Car buying can be a difficult task.  "Speculation on potential outcome of decisions," such a wonderful not-doing.  I doubt there is a perfect car to drive.  There is only the perfect car for you.  No one cares if you were to ram your new acquisition headfirst and total.  Accidents happen.  If you're going to plan to total a car, then pay less for one.  If you're going to pay a lot for a car then take better car of it.  How you treat your car is how it will serve you.  If you skip oil changes expect the engine to seize.  There are no perfect outcomes when car buying.  You do what feels right and should you purchase a lemon, then do things differently next time.  Should you have the chance to purchase a relic at a price affordable to you then the wise are grateful and make that payment toward an enjoyable future.

To harness and successfully drive a 740 horsepower engine requires an experienced and skilled driver.  An inexperienced driver will quickly seize the engine because a stick-shift is a foreign concept.  To become a skilled driver one must learn better responsiveness to the wheel they sit behind.  A skilled driver will move slow in the beginning to better understand how the vehicle responds under a number of conditions and driving environment.  A skilled driver builds a solid foundation of knowledge of the vehicle prior to opening up the engine.  Professional drivers understand any new vehicle demands a learning period.  The inexperienced driver jumps behind the wheel of a 2016 Lamborghini Aventador, takes the nearest on-ramp and unleashes the beast.  It's a euphoric experience for the first ten seconds.  Afterward it's a lot of clean-up because the driver didn't understand the power within his grasp.

The nice thing about vehicles is that there are always more to purchase.  There may not be one in the same color, but there are variations of color but with the same horsepower.  Who knows, maybe you're upgrading your horsepower simply by taking a look under the hood of a 2016 Lamborghini?  Totality doesn't have to be bought or found within a vehicle.  It can be self-made.  Then you become the vehicle others seek to drive.  Would you rather be the driver or the vehicle?  Would you rather own or be owned?

When you become the car, you own yourself.  Then you choose who gets to come along for the ride.

It will all be okay.  It is not the end of the world.  So what if the car was bought and is now gone.  Now you have the space to reflect on direction and purpose.  The car was an unnecessary distraction.  It's good it was bought and garaged.  Now those who are fascinated with relics can work on the self instead of focusing on the external.

OP from this forums you can see how many people have also plunged into Castanedas world as well and have gotten quite a lot out of their dealings with his teachings. I remember DJ once saying "We either make ourselves miserable or we make ourselves strong, the trick is in what one emphasizes." I respect your views and understand why you feel this way yet from his teachings I learned to assume responsibility for my own acts and see that the way I perceive the world and all my experiences in it is my own doing and then he brings up his points about controlling that perception which can be lots of fun. The way I see it the main idea is to gain control over the totality of oneself and the direction faced. My path since meeting his teachings has been nothing short of miracles yet again right now I am at a tough spot where I have not much control or awareness at the moment and all I can think of is practice more to grow further and expand so I can be immune to bullshit and external control. I am a master at beating myself up and settling into bullshit positions of awareness and the warriors way has helped me to eliminate lots of stuff from my life that didn't serve what was right for me and I will continue doing that not to mention the possibilities he introduces as leaving this world. Anyways I know I am dreaming my dream right now and that reality is not so real if you perceive it not to be so the thing is I can continue feeling miserable or fucking emphasize something better that will help me in my way to a better life and amazing abilities and grow and even find the door to freedom whilst maintaining awareness once again. Everything is choice and what am I choosing now?
Not trying to convince you or anything just saying Castaneda is amazing and following his teaching one can't go wrong unless he chooses to blame the external world for his failure which by the way is how we grow whilst assuming responsibility for all that is happening to us or actually what we are making for ourselves we try and poke barriers then go over them.

dont really agree with the "become the car" thing.I have seen junkyard claw handlers who became the junkyard claw.
It s a pretty mysterious sight for an outsider tripping on acid..
but the dude himself with his one steel fingered claw crushing metal all day long
his job does not translate to smooth loving.

even outside the junkyard and in the normal world of normal people
the ones who are trying to become their car are financial slaves to the ICE.
slaves to new wheels and paintjobs and little neon badges on everything.
identity fused with a car.. OUCH..

I used to be a tradeplate driver/
I would pick up several 10,000m  cars in a day and drive them around from a to be
delivering them to dealerships.
i quite enjoyed driving them without a sense of ownership.

vehicles i have owned from 5.6 litre v8  6 gear (stick shift) DODGE dieseltruck
or 1948 mercedes engine (HANOMAG) military radio truck
or even a 600cc citreon 2cv. (probably about 4 horses in that)

i dont enjoy the sentimentality..
particularly as the man with the steel claw has claimed them

Then it was good foresight on your part not to invest in such an unwise investment. If you truly wanted the car you would have purchased it. You only wanted to drive it and quality cars know when they're being taken for a ride. If you are to be sad then next time you should either purchase or lease because there are few joy rides unless you're a tradeplate driver.

Nagual Menagerie and rosygyro, I would appreciate it if you kept your contributions on topic.

rosygyro made a post about cars but it was linked it to the thread's topic (OTHER). It is not the point to go into talking about buying cars - make a new thread in Just Talk if you want to discuss something like that.

Thank you

This topic will be split and the car buying talk will go into Just Talk. Only responses relevant to the lead post and its creator will be left.
The way I see it, after glance left's last post the topic wandered away...
