Ally depiction in ZNation - S1,E8
#1
The show is on Netflix, for those who have subscriptions.
Quick background for those who've never seen the show. Z Nation is set during a zombie apocalypse. More of a B Movie style in terms of dialogue and certain plot aspects than "The Walking Dead", with more humor and less serious drama. The main characters are a group of heroes trying to escort a man, (see footnote), to a CDC center in California, and a lone man formerly working for the NSA in some polar spying/communications base. The lone man calls himself Citizen Z, and has been using the resources at the base to try to broadcast communications to the heroes when possible, and general information and music to the masses.
In season 1, episode 8 the main plotline follows Citizen Z as he meets a Russian Cosmonaut who happens to crash land just outside of the base. There is a major problem in the base however which Citizen Z is not aware of yet the audience are given multiple hints about. The cosmonaut tries multiple times to signal Z about the problem, but he never states it directly. It's important that Z must figure it out for himself.
It's a fun show and a good episode. If you have Netflix or other access to it I suggest you watch it. If not or if you're just not going to, see the spoiler below.
[+] SpoilerCitizen Z, in the last episode had been hitting golf balls by the machinery. This episode shows Z trying to clear his head a bit a couple times early. Looking up at the screens, he sees some activity and starts talking out loud about a hacker trying to break into his system. An alarm that looks like a smoke alarm goes off and he yells that he's busy working and knocks the alarm off of the ceiling silencing it. He continues watching the activity on the screens and sees some large object covered in fire crash down and here's it as it shakes the base. He looks over at his dog and complains that something like that didn't wake the dog. The screens depict what looks like part of a spaceship so he heads back to check it out. After he leaves we see the screen report a scan of the object shows no life forms.
When he gets almost to the doors to open the base, he sees wet footprints on the floor and realizes that someone has entered the base. He follows them and sees a Russian Cosmonaut in full uniform and points his gun at him to interrogate him a little. When he tells him he can take off his helmet and that the air is safe in here the cosmonaut disagrees, saying "The air is not safe." When he insists, the cosmonaut does take it off, apparently ok with the air in there.
The Russian's story is that he was the only man aboard the International Space Station shuttle when they lost communication with everyone and eventually had to crash down. He repeatedly tells Z that he is a friend and they do seem to become friends. Z shows him around and he asks about his dog; saying that usually dogs like to run around and play but his is just laying there. Z brings him back to where he plays golf and they play a bit. The Cosmonaut asks if playing golf is a good idea by all the machines. He goes to fetch a ball and when he doesn't return Z follows to find him staring at a red light on a machine with a cracked plastic piece. He sees his ball from the previous episode on the ground and says that he thought he'd lost that one. After waiting a few seconds for Z to notice what he was looking at, (which he doesn't), they head back to the screens area/main part of the complex.
Here they share some vodka and play a video game about killing zombies. Z excuses himself to the bathroom, and while in there sees the news about the ISS on his tablet. The news is that the oxygen systems failed killing all aboard and the station itself burned up on re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere. He now is suspicious and when he leaves the bathroom he goes out with his gun drawn, peering around every corner. He finds the Russian once again in his full cosmonaut uniform including the helmet standing in front of the same machine again as where Z found his missing golf ball. "We had one of these on the ISS". Z orders him to step away from the panel and accuses him of trying to "freeze him out". The Russian replies by telling him again that they are friends. "Who are you?" Z asks. The Russian tells him that he is not asking the right questions. "Why are you wearing that outfit again?" Z asks. "That's a better question." is the reply.
He ties the Russian to a chair and starts interrogating him while waving his gun in his face. He asks his name and again the Russian says he is a friend. Z says he is not a friend and that he has lied to him. The Russian asks him what is wrong with his dog. Z becomes confused, and blames the Russian for poisoning his dog. The Russian asks him again, telling him that he knows what is wrong with the dog. Z is getting frantic and repeatedly threatens to kill the Russian. Z is now very much struggling to breathe and accuses the Russian of poisoning him too. He threatens once more to kill him when the Russian replies in an insistent tone that Z is not going to kill him and asks him what is wrong with the dog.
Z turns to look at the dog for a moment and when he turns back the Russian is free of the bonds. They fight for the gun, which is knocked out of reach. The Russian manages to get on top of him and starts choking him. "I can't breathe!" Z manages to say while choking. "Why can't you breathe?" asks the Russian. "Because I've got some crazy cosmonaut choking me." answers Z. "No, you must do better than that. Fight for your life. Why can't you breathe?" the Russian asks. "I'm choking" Z answers. "Be more specific!" the Russian insists. "I'm not getting any air" Z says, and the Russian disappears.
Finally Z gets it, and heroically grabs the blanket on which is dog is sleeping and drags the dog with him to the back door while he is choking, getting the door open with obviously very little time to spare.
In my opinion, the Cosmonaut seems like a good representation of an IOB sort of ally working with Z in our world. He actually asks a few questions that seem a little naive about our world in the episode. Z was in an extreme situation and very close to death although he doesn't realize it, which justifies his being able to see and talk with the ally, (who calls himself "a friend"). The part about the ally insisting that Z figure it out himself seems correct, but I'm not sure why. Also, after it's over, it seems like exactly the sort of adventure a person is likely to forget; with Z probably filing it in his memory just as he eventually realized the problem and fixed it.
Footnote - The other plotline in the episode makes more sense when you know that the man is a sociopath with a criminal history which justified him being "forcibly
volunteered" to be injected with one of three dangerous potential vaccines
and then bit by zombies to test it, resulting in him having immunity to zombie bites. Side effects from the vaccine/virus combination have been becoming more apparent throughout the season. He seems to be slowly turning into a zombie. Also, other zombies have stopped attacking or trying to bite him.

That's the question. What is an ally? What is its form? What does it do? It is everything and nothing. In between we have every imaginable form and forms beyond imagination. Every form you discover is.like unraveling an endless mystery.

There are allies that we create, or perhaps co-create along with the existing conscious energy around us. We can make a cup into an ally tasked with keeping our coffee warm on a cold day. If we are strong in our intent and intelligent in how we handle that ally, that cup can keep the coffee warm much longer than a simple cup would in the hands of an average man. These are the sorts of allies that I believe you normally write about.

What I'm calling an ally from the show was different than that though. Most viewers would call it a hallucination, as would most probably the show's authors. I'm hypothesizing the idea that it was not. It wasn't something created by his imagination, but a separate inorganic being which he was only able to see due to his oxygen deprived state. In that case, this would be a different kind of ally. One who arrives voluntarily to help. Perhaps he heard Z's soul crying out for assistance or something.

At a higher level, assuming "I am one with the universe" and "I am all" then we could argue that the over-being who was both Z and the Russian, (and everything else), created the Russian as an ally for Z. This would be similar to the way we might do it with a cup to keep our coffee warm. However, we don't normally, (and I've yet to ever), operate from this over-being state so the question remains, is this a good depiction of a potential IOB ally from a perspective of individuated beings? To me it not only looks like a good depiction of it, there are certain things about how the ally acts that "feel right" for what I'd expect from this kind of ally. Has your experiences with these sorts of allies been like this?

BTW - good point about the other sorts of allies.

Yeah, the allies can take any form. I often work with them as living forms of perceptions. I have dealt with allies as "host" as well. I have never tried to get one to keep my coffee warm. I should try that. Usually an iob ally is a form of pure awareness. As such they see and understand all that is. I have often spoke highly of their words and how they talk. FOr me they speak out loud about my thoughts and my awareness. teaching me why and how to do new things. An ally can project and their forms often resemble projections. However if you perceive them as real biological beings then they will take on that form. Removing volition from one state and shifting into the next. Iob allies cater to the extreme. They will move to your desires and dreams.

I didnt see your episode. I watched too many zombie movies. That reminds me I once learned how to shift allies into zombies once. It was just a man on the street that I called a 'volitionless ally'. Since h had no volition I 'shot' him some. Volition of a zombie. Its amazing to watch the projection change from a normal man into a mindless zombie. i used to shift people into robotic beings as well. My problem with iobs however is that they have often tried to control the awareness with projection that overlap and enter into the perceptions of reality. Its lie every position i lerned from them ended u being used and controlled by projections. It made it hard to leave a position for another one because your projections were constantly telling you wha reality is and does. They would seek to hold me in my positions. They were powerful and interesting but I need freedom. I have been spending months learning cohesion and denying projections. Learning how to turn them off and give them no power. One of my iob ally perceptions was called "moving".. It shows yo are projection of someone moving to your awareness and your voiced intent. It reflects your command and moves to yoru intent. I would see this projection on everything. Everything was a mover for a long time. I thought it almost was normal. I denied that projection and killed my control. I had many forms of knowledge designed to move people and control them. I decided to stop empowering it however because iobs were copying it and using it to control reality. As soon as I told reality that it no longer moves to that form of knowledge it stopped. You get what you give. I admit tho, my loyal allies help me cut away yesterdays forms and positions. My allies dont hold me, but let me fly. But not all iobs have been so loyal and generous. Many have tried to block a the doors.

To build on what you said here, an ally may be stronger or weaker than you.  If they are stronger, they will only adapt to your will if they want to.  If they are weaker, then they will either adapt or leave.  It is like in dreaming.  The others you dream with will conform to your perceptions with regard to environment, form, and/or behavior.  If they are stronger, they decide ultimately what they will do.  You may perceive them as one manner, and to you that may be real.  However, if you're dreaming with a third party or more, then the others will not see what you are perceiving unless the ally has decided to take the form you intend.

The application of projection of an intent only succeeds when we are stronger than another.  Otherwise it becomes a delusion of the self, instead of a projection which others perceive.  I find it helpful to check in with others who are also present: are you seeing what I'm seeing?  This may not always be great to have a common agreeance, but for the very basic projections it helps to get feedback to understand if we're actually manifesting our intent.  Feedback can also be seen in the tonal.  Example: in dreaming I may behave in one manner, believing I have done an act.  If that is not manifested within the tonal, then my intent did not make it across the barrier between realms.  This means I need to focus more and develop my will so that it is strong enough to be carried across The Great Divide.

A person doesn't need to gain feedback from others if they're afraid of the hostility and limitations from others perceptions of reality.  If this is the case, then people should look to the tonal to confirm or disconfirm the power of personal intent.  Intent creates, but power manifests.

IOBs do not copy you.  They are their own essence.  I doubt they would find it necessary to copy from a mortal.  Unless you are the first mortal they have encountered.  Given they are ageless, I doubt they would copy you.  You are not the first born God.  You are one of many within a long line.

Actually iobs or allies often do mimic. They taught me a technique they called "placing your body on mine", This action copies awareness and places it inside the iob's body. I rarely do this, but when it comes to my allies we often share power and gifts.

Oh, my mistake. You're right..... the words copy and mimic are similar enough to be considered the same. Now I understand what you were saying about the copying. Lol, I was copying you for a long time. Does that make me an iob or an ally of yours? Or neither, but if neither--what am I to you? I'm curious your thoughts on this.

well i perceive different positions for humans and allies. I learned long ago how to shift average people into positions of allies, and vice versa. I rarely do that these days though. I would say that you are Kaomea, someone I would like as a friend. I think and see that you have volition of your own that did not come from me. I came to this forum to meet humans on the path of sorcery. Like minded people. My world is often in the second attention. I have a few different positions of what humans are. Lately my awareness has been in a "human form". Many of my old positions are left behind. My awareness of allies and humans has been ''mixed'' for years. Intermingled. I often can not tell the difference between them. However since I shut down many old positions I have been seeing people as normal people again. Its a lovely position often taken for granted. Humans, plain and simple.

I will not force my will onto people anymore. I used to tell everything. My new position doesnt know and doesnt force. It wants to see what is naturally, before i interfere and claim it as my own. The unknown is more enticing to me. It frees me of my yesterdays. Oh my yesterdays are still following me trying to snag me back but they are growing weaker and inactive.

You have dark side to you Kaomea. I understand it well. I spent many years in the darkness. I was almost a goner. It owned me. One day after years of being lost to it I decided to break free of it. The darkness serves itself. Its selfish. Evil is, after all, evil right? I found that the way into the heavens is not to be a slave to evil thinking and evil actions. I found that by empowering certain awareness' I would never find my way into the heavens. I would fall every time. I am ashamed to say that much of my path was forged with selfish intent. What is the result but the actions taken to create it. It was a reflection. I was dirty in much of my ways. Corrupt. Oh I had some good awareness too and crafted great things but in the end it was corrupt because i was corrupt. I want to make something pure, and something clean. I want my actions to be free of the darkness, free of evil intent. I want righteousness and honor, dignity and grace. I want to create something, to be part of something, that is beautiful and right. Good.
