I sought expansion (separation from rigid view).
As is the way of serloco, he (she, it, whatever) unmistakeably intervened with the help I requested in post #170. Thank you for 'Lucy' (movie).
In 'Lucy' the question is asked whether the human species is more concerned with having than being. Synchronicity involving this thought persisted. Having is keenly associated with measurements of self identity. Formally testing children in elementary school locks this in (as an example). What we learn (knowledge) is connected to what we will have. Reinforcement of this continues on thru to adulthood.
My issue is not to refute the potency of societal education; I simply point out that identity now directly corresponds to what we do and what we have. Being alive gets overrun here.
Doing and having of itself is not necessarily a conflict to a core sense of being. I mean, I had rediscovered the equanimity of self without attachments, but was unsure that the focus on the core self wasn't compromised by extending THIS identity into an interactive world (havings and doings). s showed me that it was possible so long as awareness of one's controlled folly (indifference) is understood. I was originally only passive; now I am more active/creative.
This has an existential relevance to experience that I will try to show here.
So, if my identity is laden with having, and I have the inevitable moments of emptiness experience, I will be without resource > the sensation of meaninglessness is a drain > there is depression. Of course, even without consciousness, this experience bears on the entirety of my life's experience. However, this is not my experience. I understand perfectly that doing and having are without beneficial relevance if not derived from the core sense of my self. The core sense of myself is in the unfathomable emptiness itself, so that when I have the inevitable moments of emptiness experience, I am not drained whatsoever.. I am home. There is well being; energy (sometimes restorative), a fullness of being alive without impediment. That is I am freely being, I am authentic.
