The way to do this is to realize who we were a decade ago, two decades ago, a year ago, a month ago, an hour ago...whoever that person was,, IS not us. Like the snake we shed our skin and eternally renew. The intent to make the past 'self' who we are now is a maneuver of intent only. A placement of the ap. There is no other connection besides this act of intent. In other words, as you say, 'who we were' is truly dead now. That 'was' is not us. Yes we intend a chain of continuity, it grounds attention. But this small thread of awareness is the only link. We can keep this link light and malleable with attention on this Phoenix-aspect of life/time/energy flow.Hi Silverwind,
I am not a proficient seer or dreamer so I will have to take you word for that : ) What you write makes me wonder what about us does stay the same? I don't really understand what you are saying about a thread of intent, in truth intent is something I am only at the beginning of learning about, and also the ap is something I know practically nothing about so you can imagine what kind of meaning I am able to derive from your reply : )
I know that the physical body is like you say literally shedding skin and becoming new but I cant help but wonder about the beliefs and senses of self that are maintained, I feel like even though we may forget about certain things they are still present and affect us now, old memory's stored in the body. Ekhart Tolle talks about the emotional body and how it keeps itself alive by feeding more of the same types of emotions.
