hi dreamgirl
i have frequent dreams involving lots of water. this often includes huge tsunamis or visions of aftermaths of catastrophic water events. i have dreamt of major US cities flooded by water. i do believe that these dreams are related to my personal subconscious, or even my personal subconscious receiving information from the larger unknown. i normally don't detect any outside influence within these dreams. their tone seems totally my own.
i'm not sure if i associate these dreams with inner states because of an intuitive feeling or because i read over and over that the water element is associated with emotions. when i do have these dreams, i will try to do a little soul-searching to see if there's some deep emotion that is threatening to overwhelm me - like a tidal wave - that i might not pay attention to in waking life. i also look at the kind of water - is it small like a lake or huge like an ocean? is it still or is it flowing, churning, etc.... colors, feelings, anything may give you an indicator of what is going on. when you go back into the dream in a meditative state, how does it make you feel? does that feeling seem familiar - like it's attached to something else?
these are all things i ask myself when i encounter this kind of water-dream. i know, in my own water dreams, very often my family members are with me. this isn't common for me in other dreams, so i definitely feel there is an emotional element present for me in those episodes.
