Thanks for your replies, friends. I am currently out of town for my mom to have cataract surgery and we are staying at my aunt's in the Rio Grande valley...AT&T isn't so 3G down in the valley so I haven't been able to reply until now.
I understand about lucidity in dreaming and that's what confused me...it seems that when I did NOT realize I was dreaming that I was on the other end of the seesaw from lucid. But still, I acted within my dream and made decisions upon which I acted...so really nothing changed as far as that goes. It was the sensations, perhaps, that caused my thinking I was in the ordinary instead of the second.
Since I began my dreaming life long before I read Castaneda - and to be honest, I haven't yet read his work in its entirety or even close to 1/3, although it is very familiar to me when I do have the time to read - I didn't go the usual route such as glancing at my hands and such...so recently I went to bed with the intent of checking out the quality of my dreaming environment - did it shimmer? were there details? how did it seem?
That night I had a very interesting dream which I will share soon on another thread since it is of its own topic, but what applies here is that I looked around and the details were complete down to even the baseboards on the wall and all that kind of thing...no leaking of transparency around the edges as I thought maybe there would be...it was just as solid as my waking world.
Having the dream with the sensation of the dog bite and water splashing has made me see just how unreal reality is if compared to what most think of as not real. Life IS just a dream and so is a dream also just life!
