From http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/stalk :
stalk
verb
: to follow (an animal or person that you are hunting or trying to capture) by moving slowly and quietly
: to go through (a place or area) while hunting
: to follow, watch, and bother (someone) constantly in a way that is frightening, dangerous, etc.
~~~~~
Apply that to Shamanism and it moves from the physical to the spiritual.
My interpretation of stalking is that it's the attempt to 'see' what isn't in plain sight. Of course you might want to keep in mind people have varying degrees of accuracy of what they see when they stalk, much of the time it's tainted with their own experiences so it's difficult to get an objective insight. Nonetheless sometimes stalking isn't very deep and the inquiry into another is satisfied quickly enough.
Stalking is very simple to do. Accuracy is a different matter.
