I have been trying to put my words together on this topic , for there positives and negatives of fear.
Certainly , some fear or fright is natural to this organism. It is a matter of survival , and greater awareness will make us more sensitive to its warning.
The problem seems to be in what I have seen called Semantic or psychological fear, ie: anxieties, or hatreds born of self-reflection. These are fears that have
no basis in sustaining life.
Don Juan teaches transcendence ; the warrior learns to overcome fear in the face of death by making a purposeful last stand , and to apply that to every action
of living . My take on that is , being mortal, there is no guarantee that we live one more second. Therefore be impeccable always. That is sort of like being
ready to meet Jesus , without the Biblical morbidity, perhaps
