I would suggest that petty tyrants only reflect some part of our own struggle towards awareness. Whether they represent some luminous fibers we must release or if they are some intrinsic part of our personality which is holding us back. I think CC did an especially good job of linking the characters he encountered to facets of his own personality in Active Side of Infinity.
