How to deal with spammers/undesirables
#1
Welcome to Nagual Forums!

So you've pulled up, gotten comfortable, maybe even made yourself a yuku profile, and now you want to read the forums. You click on what promises to be an interesting post and lo and behold it's one person rambling incoherently. You try another, same result. After a while you realize that their is good stuff in the threads, but finding them takes a bit of work. You'll probably notice that certain names pop up a lot when it comes to things you'd rather avoid; either due to their spamming or their posts being undesirable to your tastes for whatever reason. You might look at the forum list and it can even feel like the last post in every thread you see comes from one of these undesirable authors. Fear not! There's no need to become despondant; I'm about to teach you a pro tip for avoiding them!

The next time you see a post by someone whom you'd rather not read, take a look at their profile photo on the left of the post. Underneath, you will see a button labelled "Interact". It's a bit deceptive, because in many places on these forums it doesn't actually look like a button but just the word Interact. Click on it, and a small menu will appear. In that menu click on the option called "Ignore User's Posts". A confirmation window will appear, select yes. By doing this, all that user's posts in any thread will be auto-collapsed and hidden making it much easier to get to the stuff you actually want to read. A space with their name where they posted will still be visible, allowing you to un-collapse any individual post of their's which you might decide to look at. Go ahead and test this out, it's easily reversible just by uncollapsing one of that person's posts and going back to the Interact menu again.

Hope this tip makes your path through these forums more pleasant and once again, welcome.

Thanks for sharing this feature !!!

Many times I thought about how cool it would be to press the juice out, dig the gold and make article on the topic.

But alas time is not a resource i have to much off...

Thank you JJ! I've been around for years and never knew about that feature. I was always mislead by the 'interact' button, thinking it was for something to bring closeness. . . if I had known it could be used to distance I would have clicked!

What a misleading button.

Thank you for moving this WG. Will it always appear in the introduction forum as a moved topic?

No, I just leave that there a few days. I will make a log of moving the thing in the Admin/Mod log and then in a bit delete the moved thread memo in the Introductions.

With all the moving we have been doing lately I was leaving the moved thread signs a bit longer, cause I think the info would get lost in all the posts about moving threads
