I was just wondering do animals tie into shamanism in any way or should I say in what ways, I have a dog and a cat and I have read that cats can see multiple
dimensions and I like to think the same goes for dogs.
A couple of times my dog seemed to start barking at things I could not see which I would usually assume it was a small animal or something in the bushes and
once my dog barked at me but it was as if he was barking at something behind me and not at me because I know my dog has respect for me and does not dare to
bite the one that feeds him and he knows I love him.
what makes me bring this up is the last couple of days my dog seems to be flipping out at something outside and it is very cold and snowing which I would
believe there are no small animals because of the cold and when I let him out to see what it was he seemed confused.
dare I say, maybe he can see or hear the beyond? I know they can hear much better than humans can and they can see in the dark much better as well but these
past few days seemed a little out of character, he is fine today though.
anyway, any thoughts on animal companions? any reading material you can recommend?

Wild animals can be agents for Spirit and come to you when doing shamanic stuff.
Some fellow warriors here have dogs and cats, I don't, so I will let those with first hand experience answer you.

silent voice of the spirit. there are many dogs in my neighborhood. what each one is saying depends on the moment. what it means to your heart is clear with or
without the dogs voice.

Thanks another spirit!
I noticed that the crows follow me at work today, a hawk swooped down low near me yesterday, and today when I came home from work a flock of baby blue jays
were in my backyard, all of a sudden I am noticing all the animals and they seem to notice me sometimes.

Cool Renato
Once a bundle of years ago a red bird landed in the bush near me and I felt him give me greetings, then he sat there awhile looking into my eyes with his eye.
It was the strangest feeling and was a surprise to me at the time.

I met a coyote once. Fortunately, I did not panic, just stared at him and then ran him off. He was hungry. Both under the 'influence' and sober, pets
have communicated to me; feelings are translated to thoughts in my mind. In this same way, seven hawks came to me two summers ago. They circled me not more
than 100 feet above. I thought their chief (or Nagual) would have come to me, but as I did not have a falconer's cuff, they said their good byes. When this
happened, I was in a very clear, silent mind. I think that is the key to such events.
If I have this correctly, animism is the view that all creatures are the equal of man, different but equal, with as much right to be here as you or I. This can
even be extended to plants and soil. The Earth itself is a living being. I have learned that the most radical of environmentalists have taken this position
over the past 50 years. They call it Deep Ecology. Not man apart. The Hindus say, that, more than sympathy with the mountain, I AM the mountain.

I agree hawkeye crow, a silent mind is key, sometimes I find my mind gets quiet when it is curios without any expectations (not thinking the worst) of an
experience, for example, the day I was walking and the crow followed me, I was wondering why or sort of waiting to see what it wanted or had left me silently
waiting for the answer, I got the vibe it was hungry and cold and it was plain watching me. who knows, I find myself trying to tune in though.
Over the summer a snake was in front of my porch and went under the mat, at first I wanted to stomp on it but I sensed it was afraid of something so i left
alone thinking it would eventually go, which it did, I showed it to my kids and in a strange way I think they sensed it too, I guess it is the instinct silence
brings.

Yes, someguy. Sensitivity to these things is the recovery of our true nature and power. It is the end of the Foreign Installation.
A good feeling.

A good feeling indeed hawkeye crow,
Today I had another experience, the crow came over and landed right near me on a small stair railing when I was at the smoking spot at work and the crow looked
directly at me and raised its beak just as I told a friend it was watching me and it did not make any noise and when I acknowledged it, the crow turned around
and flew to its friend in a nearby tree, I think it came over to specifically let me know it was watching me. It was good.

I have had interruptions and been unable to respond 'til now
I have had similar events with crows. There must be energy relations that allow such contact. Sometimes, I am able to get the omens from them. Surely, I pay
closer attention than I used to!

I understand, I pay attention to all animals more these days, when I was younger, crows used to line the trees down the block from my mom's house by the
thousands, when the leaves fell from the tree's, there would be enough crows to make it look like there was leaves, unfortunately I used to throw rocks at
them back then, I guess that was bad, but in the following years they would completely fill up the the electric utility lines and poles for the whole street, I
remember people used to say crows come to where death is and it kind of made sense to me considering I lived in Staten Island.

one thing most beneficial is to find the true center in the body of energy. known in zen as the ki. all breath should rise and fall from there, and as im writing this an old nagual respecting muggle appears. anyways that center goes out into the world. this is the double. everything is in its scope. animals or sounds, or light. so i like this:
"Sensitivity to these things is the recovery of our true nature and power"
