I've fought long and hard for an opportunity to get into a tradition, whichever may be the best for me at this time. Although I am young, I have a knack for getting exactly where I need to be at exactly the right time. Call it synchronicity; call it Providence if you'd life. I call it fate. Or Destiny. Whatever the case may be, I have found myself on this arduous path, ready and steadfast for anything that comes my way. I view nagualism as the religion of my ancestors from hundreds of years ago in Prehispanic times. Catholic Curanderismo is reminiscent of my childhood upbringing, and Mexican Witchcraft is something I must learn in order to do battle with it in the future, when and if the times demand. I've visted many brujos, santeros, paleros, and so on, trying to find advise that could guide me on my spiritual path. At first I wanted to get involved with Santeria but later on, after a suggestion from a brujo about sticking to my ancestry, I began to remember about a Curandera I know that changed my life. She taught me the basics of healing, while on the other hand I sought also the fundamentals of sorcery, that is using material bases to achieve a material or spiritual end.
I wish to be a Curandero, but I will always have the mark of a nahualli. It's not to say that I would like to be a saint, but what I would like is to be remembered for the one who made mythic feats in the face of insurmountable odds. To fight this daily battle for a cause, as I believe to be fighting for, the fight for spiritual freedom and religious liberation, speaking from a place high up in the celestial realm or deep in the belly of the earth. In Botanicas, all you learn is Brujeria and how to do trabajos, limpias, despojos, and so on. But the Curandero understands what's at stake. That the devil take possession of another lost and forsaken soul. There's the on-going battle between good and evil, and to defeat sorcery you must first master it. That's my take on it. I can't fully call myself a master, nor an initate, but what I am is a seeker and I wish to seek healing for myself and others, for my brothers and sisters, and for the planet. The energies available for working with are astounding, not only that, but we have millions of books at our disposal that could help us become good soldiers of God, the highest God, the immortal God, the holy God, the living God, but not the only God. There are indeed his sons and daughters that spring from his emanation. To understand this duality will bring much comfort.
Another way I could classify my perspective is Christian Magick mixed with Nahuallotl, which makes for a fine ride as long as you're ready for eternal life, whether it be in heaven, hell, or Mictlan, or with the Sun. Sanctity is a must, so is castidy, saintliness, and piety. Become humble so you may teach as well as learn. The spirits are with us, and by following the folk-ways, we will come to understand nature and its cycles. The one things that has lead me to all of these conclusions have been my dreams, without which I would have no outlet for all the energies i've been manifesting in myself. I will follow the ways. So mote it be.
