Don Juan tells us that there are 21 abstract cores of sorcery
the first 4 is
The Manifestations of the Spirit--the energetic fact that
everyone is a conduit for the spirit but that we are too busy with the affairs
of everyday life to notice;
The Knock of the Spirit--the attempts the spirit
takes to get each of us to notice it;
The Trickery of the Spirit--the gyrations
through which the spirit moves to hold our interest;
The Descent of
the Spirit--when the spirit cuts the chains of our self-reflection.

The Twenty-One Abstract Cores
At the heart of the Toltec teachings, and contained within the ancient memory banks of Toltec seers, are twenty-one ideograms that encapsulate the essence of the Toltec legacy. These ideograms are exceedingly complex by virtue of their profound simplicity; an expression that renders them utterly abstract, and therefore all but impossible to transcribe into verbalisations. As a result these ideograms are simply termed the twenty-one abstract cores, a faint reflection of which can be found by the serious and deep-thinking student in the deeper esoteric meanings of the twenty-one jewels of awareness.
The poem below was written by Théun Mares in order to assist his apprentices to find this reflection. Théun chose the medium of poetry, for this medium lends itself well to the feelings that are generated whenever one is exposed to the Toltec teachings for the left-side.
The Twenty-One Abstract Cores
Twenty and one there are,
In both the beginning and the end.
Twenty are the two rings rare;
Each set with ten stones to mend.
Nineteen is of essence gold;
The laughter of joy filled years:
Eighteen of liquid silver,
The tears of nightmare years.
Seventeen warriors enter the field;
The two urns bring their final separation.
Then a trailing blaze they leave, one fiery shield,
For sixteen hath brought the stroke of liberation.
Fifteen is the wayward shadow haunting,
Horned, hoofed, cursed and feared;
Fourteen the bright mysterious Angel daunting,
Measuring an angle new, destiny also feared.
Thirteen moves with measured pace,
A silent witness for the final dance.
With head low in earth and feet in space,
Twelve hangs awaiting patiently his chance.
Eleven, raw power born of the search,
The dream of man and beast.
Whilst turning and turning upon Ten they perch,
Beast sniffing his distant humanity, man his deeper beast.
Nine pauses to sound the fatal knock upon the door,
Setting the shadows aquiver with his light.
But Eight unmovingly holds sword and scales to the fore,
A blinding, confusing display of might.
Seven marks the beginning of a journey bold,
Far and wide, vibrant; spirits high,
Now hero having taken the decision made of old,
Struck in Six by Fortune’s arrow from on high.
Five heralds the great challenge,
How of the two to make one?
Four has conquered this the challenge,
But his silence offers answers none.
Three rules the realm of abundance untold,
In brilliant glory, awesome, breathtaking;
Slowly, silently, it unfolds as it was foretold
By Two in whose word there is no mistaking.
One now stands in the circle’s centre,
Fulfilment of the Dreamer’s dream.
Raising wand, he bids the fearful forces enter,
With flashing eyes and piercing scream.
Then from inside the circle, and beyond,
From all around, the great forces gather around the One
Spiralling, echoing across the vast pulsating frond
Of time and space, in obedience to the One.
Suddenly the attention captures
A whole new sound crystal clear;
Cheerful, luring laughter ruptures
Forth from far and near.
He who has no fixed abode nor course defined
Salutes his brother in the centre with joyous glee.

I can't see the connection between Don Juan 4 described cores and the 21 (22) that Theun Mares poem touch.
Maybe you can explain it? If it is the same cores that the two of them talk about?
These cores in the poem seem to reflect the Major arcana of the Tarot - which is the same as the Book of Thoth. A powerful deck full of deep wisdom in 4 layers, yes there is much more to them than the prediction descriptions.

Behaviour: Servile, seeking approval, grovelling, docile.

Behaviour: Apathy, indifference, carelessness, negligence, sloth, confusion, laziness.
the 21 abstract cores are the light jewels
the eleven dark jewels are well the dark jewels
somehow the two combine to form a cadeceus whos number is simoultaneously 0 where it touches the void and jewel 33 where it achieves total freedom in the form of an awarness incarnation which completes the riddle!
THE DARK CORES are resitance cores and are all used by all people to a greater or lesser extent i feel..
the dark cores are like a CRYSTAL or TREE TRUNK that has been snapped in half...
as you look at the break... the concentric stress lines radiate inwards or outwards creating two limiting factors of awarness passive and active....
the IMPORTANT thing to remember is that the entire eleven dark cores are a single WESTERLY challenge in the world of man.
NUMEROLOGY
If you read theun mares numerology
then you know that once you get to double numbers a factor of ten or completion of manifestation is added..
it is for this reason that in my own studies..
i place abstract cores 0-1(11 total)0 on one side of the potential ROD or DARK RINGS.and abstarct cores 11-21(11 total) on the other.
The ATTEMPT is to make one snake of the cadeceus the single numerological abstarct cores within the TONAL
the ATTEMPT to make the other snake the dual numbers or other snake of the cadeceus on the reverse of the tree and hence nagual connected.
and use the RYTHM of the two snakes to make the CONCENTRIC RINGS of the dark jewels into a RE-FORMED rod of power..
or a cadeceus.

obviously there is some liminality between the use of jewel zero as the beggining of one of the snakes in the void!
and the completed jewel 33 which isnt really a inanimate or material thing.

Theun mares carried a par tof the riddle of mankind.
However his respect for power like with all the toltec toltec lineage made him susceptible to illusion IF it suited the purpose of the unspeakable!
The ability to transmit knowledge itself is a shortcoming.. the nagual theun mares had a human quotient , a warrior quotient which itself failed when it became a teacher!
The spear is lost and the sword forgotten is theuns belief..
my own is that the spear is BROKEN( hence the dark jewels radiating from the break)
the SWORD is worthless.....we must face the fact that the sword could be the very thing which broke the spear.. and the jewel of differentiation is the very thing which needs to be undone in order for destiny to begin to complete itself!

He will of course continue on his infinite journey.
this includes re-incarnation lifetime after lifetime..
The dragon wolf as a person who actually understands his books unlike MOST of the readers.
will re-incarnate as early as he can in humanity and the universe.
as the universe resolves its darkness it must re-incarnate beings earlier in its own living form.
translatteral destiny.. would be a chance for a warrior such as teun to incarnate in the deep past.
the principle of honour at death is not to miss the chance.
I know theuns.. but the tricks of power colluded for its own purpose.
the purpose of the unspeakable., to which all toltecs are subject to
even if it makes them fools.
and before someone gets uppity about me talking about something.. think again ...
theuns final image of humanity was a DESIGNED part of his alignment for dragon wolf incarnation and not a truth for all incarnations.
the dragon wolf perpetually exists in the roots of man .... and on his current path will not see the future in potential energy.
it is his vision of human death and his desire to avert it which fuels his passage!
his responsibility is to see the vision and to live immpeccably.

The principle i just outlined with the BROKEN rather than lost spear of destiny presents the energetic truth or at least possibility
that the dark jewels of resistence rather than stemming from a single core..
are able to be seen as a series of dark jewel lessons as time or eneregtic advancement is plotted when the SHAFT of the spear is uncovered!
the flying of the spear is secondary to its unveiling!
what better way to unveil it than to energetic;y tie it into the cadeceus or the insignia of the nagual?
The model above which has one snake of the cadeceus on the reverse of the tree
and one sanke within the tonal.. is very much a southerly perspective of the cadeceus..
there is also an easterly perspective of the cadeceuc which can be plotted numerologicly..
utilising snake (a) as even numbers squared and snake b as odd number squared..
utilising the central rod as a MEAN ratio in liminal matter.. and grounding on the number 111
....
i have yet to make a design for the northerly or westerly cadeceus..
although i would hazard a guess that the westerly cadeceus will use the extinct species and ever lost aspects of life evolving whcih were curteiled by mankinds awarness to plot a deep root thorough human awarness ..
and that the northerly cadeceus be best placed within MEDICINE whci already demarcates the boundaries of corporeal life!
....
EVEN if you believe me to be a liar about my perspetcives on the cadeceus..
it is still a testament to the death of THEUN MARES that his particular vision has a CAP to it..

Make me recall that Jizo came to me when I asked for Power to transform the wound of a trauma demon
His is one of the four lead Bodhisatvas.. the other are Manjushri and Avalokitisvara (Daila Lama is his incarnation is the story) and another one im not familar with
He is the one who entered Hell to liberate his mother
My wound involved my Mothers Heart, she had lost it and I was suffering from carrying it..
It was brought to her and she is now out of hell.

the edges of the square are the double ramification of each power.
note- i am predilected to the east.. which explains why the east is on the left.. I am not looking at a map or a compass with NESW... left side awarness is potential for me.

Sword- the part of awarness used to discern between things.. the jewel of discrimination..
helps you know the difference between a speeding automobile and a cat-door!
If the sword itself is part of a moving cultural awarness it can sneak a few definitions of its own in that were never needed...
i.e. definitions between dark jewels...
when actually all the dark jewels are the same procession of matter through TIME within the universal malkut..
and it is the sword already in too deep which disguises its true nature..
warriors go mad..#people who take discrimination out of their worldview are either on LSD type drugs.. or mad..
it is not an easy assemblage point movement,,
but to withdraw discrimination from the "spear of destiny" is maddening.
ultimatly.. MEST...is rythmical..
the ENERGY, THE SPACE. THE TIME part all correlate to a different part of the SPEAR....
Giving the immpression it is a set of dark jewels radiating and subracting energy from their environment.
proper MEST focus will show them true..
However as it is a planetary challenge of ATL' (quetzaco)...
it is not up to a single warrior to show the spear..
but up to ALL warriors to work together so that the spear itself as an embodyment of the destiny of man can FLY TRUE
THE metaphor of the spear of destiny flying.. is in fact the movement of large tracts of awarness of inertial matter to the common sense factor of our collective futures.
there are a 1000s of uses for matter in science..
and not all of them are good for a future of awarness.
the spear of destiny flying is the movement of the TONAL to a position which doesnt give negative thinkers enough power to effect manifestation within the dreamed!

We hear about light jewels and dark jewels
here is an attempt by me about 10 years ago to discern them,
In my university days i experimented with float Glass
taking about 8 kilos of normal by Browse to Save">window glass
i cut it up into squares.. and put it into terracotta plant pots (with a
central hole in the base).. on shelves in a kiln so that as the glass
melted it would flow into plaster and bentonite ingot molds beneath..
on making the ingots.. once they had cooled i would smash them to pieces
with a large V shaped bit of an anvil.. essentially having two ingots
worth in a bucket.
i would then select shapes i liked.. and shapes i did not..
the shapes i liked where markedly more round.. and the ones not.. were hooked and cruel like beaks and claws..
once this separation by Browse to Save">process
was achieved i placed them in the terracotta plantpots(with a hole in
the bottom) one pot of cruelty and one pot of peace.. in the kiln above
the molds and melted them BOTH through the holes again!
apon collecting my ingots of DIFFERENT AESTHETIC ORIGIN but identical form(both now the same dimension ingots)
I smashed them up with a V shaped bit of a blacksmiths anvil into a
buckets worth and selected the aesthetic again..thus extracting peaceful
aesthetic from the cruel formed ingot and vice versa and put the pieces
into melting pots again)
I repeated the process again and again and again possibly 5-6 times
.perpetually melting hooks and claws on the left hand pot.. and rounds
in the right.. heaping together and discerning apart melting down twin
combining smashing up and mixing!until the glass could not take it any
more and had become a bluey white opaque substance... thus losing an
aesthetic of clarity.
and i threw them into a by Browse to Save">skip outside.
the most interesting piece of the work.. was not the completely arbitary
sorting, melting and throwing away of an ENTIRE MODULE of work! it was
in MY MINDs response which intrigued me!
as an artist i imagine process and creation..
and yet although i could EASILY imagine the safe aesthetic melting into its ingot.
the Image of the pot of cruel shapes was impossible to project the process apon.
STRANGE as the two pots melted at the same time in the same by Browse to Save">box.
you would have thought the sincerity of time and 700degrees centigrade..and a half tonne container would have fused the two
streams together within the truth of their FORM!
aesthetic is accord with will and resitance to will..
it is resitence to process on one hand and extrapolation of process on the other.. TIME is confused between the two!
and should we forget the ugly will always return to a place we cannot comrehend it..
and it is from there it wreaks havoc on the subconsious.
The dark jewels are much the same.
