Hey all,
Just wondering if anyone has seen this video and what is your opinion on it:
http://video.google.com/v...8331106173390&hl=en#
I plan on finishing the book but I am wondering what the members here think about this, this video paints a twisted picture here and I am not judging anything
yet, the knowledge of the books should stand out before anything, I guess what I really want to know is has anyone gained the ability to see, just based on
these books, because I see everything as a puzzle piece, and at this point I am thinking that is exactly what the castaneda material is, a puzzle piece, not
the whole picture, and I am fine with that.
anyway, your feedback is much appreciated.

Thanks docta lee,
I am almost finished reading the art of dreaming, but I plan on reading it again.
yeah the video seemed to attack castaneda a bit, they said a lot of negative things but the media has a track record of doing things like that and that is why
I take it with a grain of salt, but at the same time I cannot help think there is more out there than just the books he wrote on dreaming and seeing, but no
matter, my research will bring me where it may, a lot of the material corroborates with other stuff I have read, I just wonder if I am interpreting some of the
words or phrases used in the material correctly.
I know the path to enlightenment and freedom is not an easy one, but I am pressing on.

My take on that is that most people (99.9%) will not gain the ability to see from the books... And if you see something controversial about Castaneda, thats
normal. Read ''The Sorcerer's Apprentice'' by Amy Wallace for example. The books are not easy to understand. To get a good feel of sorcery,
you need to read all of the books from CC, and read some of them twice. And ask questions on a forum like this one, to clarify certain subjects.
Also, reading wont get you seeing. Its by practicing specific exercises like dreaming and recapitulation, meditation, yoga and chi-kung or tai-chi. You have to
practice these for a number of years, 10 years or 20 or 30 years. And even then, it doesnt mean you will be a seer.

Yes I can understand that, what do you consider seeing though? what does seer see? see the beyond? other dimensions? the future? the past? other planets? all
of the above?
I was thinking in dreams one sees, but I am starting to think it is a lot more than this.
Once when I was 19, my friend was tripping on LSD (not me) and I was waiting for my brother with him and he was supposed to arrive at a certain time, he was
late and I told my friend he was in an accident, I even drove to where he was, after that my friend wanted to get away from me, he was scared of me after that,
haha
would that be a form of seeing? sometimes I just know things.
right now, when I get a sensation in my ears I know when someone is speaking of me, I just cant quite pinpoint who but it usually reveals itself.

seeing is knowing, seeing is seeing a true form, seeing is moving between realities with ones perception.

Re: Responses to curiosities of someguy eo ipso especially of the same kind, now about two years later...
To answere your question, someguy if you happen to check on your responses, now about two years later... ...and this is for other 'curiouses,' of whom I find interesting; a new comer, et cetera, to the concept of the shamans cognitive system. So, what is it like to see? A better question would be: "What does one do with ones seeing," and actually, what does one get to do with it. Its almost entirely true that the shamans knowledge, much less their power, cant be bought. But in our times and for many decades, thanks to the likes of Castaneda, an average consumer can literally go into a book store and buy the keys to the shamans cognitive system. Its really unbelievable and it is such a divine opertunity that anyone who chooses to do so, can literally have access to the shamans cognitive system and if you buy used copies of Castaneda's books, it doesnt cost very much. On the same token, the reader and really the student of his works and the works of other practitioners, shamans, etc, which can be just as helpful... ...this reader not only needs to do more than suspend judgement of the concept but, they need to give it a fare hearing if they expect the materials and or other devices of seeing to take effect. One cant attain a high school diploma and think that they are now a doctor or an upper level professional. It doesnt just take time, it takes effort and for the average would be practitioner in our modern world of stupidity, apathy and the selling out to the greater bad, somewhat deliberately in the spirit of passive aggressivenes, it is now a much greater challenge to turn potential warriors stock into a warrior. Many people who I have talked to about the works of Castaneda, who were the types that couldnt embody the practical aspects of the teachings and later became a dissenter of indianism in general, failed in one crucial way. Which is, that whichever shaman, shaman initiate or praxis of shamanism that they were involved with, such as the books of Castaneda, they simply didnt actually practice the sorcerers techniques which Don Juan continually suggested to Carlos. They just didnt do it and because of that, they just didnt see. Imagine not only reading those books, but partaking in the activities which are outlined in the material and if you read the books, read not only all of the ones that Carlos wrote, but, read the books which were written by the other practitioners of the party. Get a full scope of what theyre really talking about and go from there. Also, when you have compiled a nice collection of these books, re-read the books. Re-read the books as many times that it takes for you to get results. Thats what were after! Results! Imagine a military fighter pilot who is learning how to fly his weapon, fight his war and deliver strikes against his enemies. First, he has to decide to go to war. Then, he has to decide, for what reason, who to go to war with and how to accomplish his missions and in order to do that, he has to be taught. But, if he has his own equipment, he can wage the same war, with the same effectiveness as long as he first of all has the proper information. Alot of people fall victim to the idea, that as long as they arent a member of whatever team they are trying to join, that they will never be able to succsessfully wage their war. This is a false belief. Take for example, the spy of a military or other faction who crosses deep into enemy territory and sets up shop in the enemy country and is never detected. This is the condition of a warrior and believe it or not that is what seeing is, only on a lesser level. The seer who sees can view nearly all others as 'people,' who can be effected by them for their warriors purpose, yet not in a selfish way or in harmful ways to those who dont deserve to be harmed. Theres a business aspect to shamanism and money porkers such as our cyndicated media fails to portray most indian affairs as business enterprises. The same is true for that which is 'shamanism.' This is a cultural difference by which most Americans, regardless of their race have chosen to hold the indian down and suppress, suppress, suppress and control, control, control. Theres a prejudice. Most definately and because of this American version of the suppression of the religions endemic to American Indians, now 1000 years later approximately, the shamans system of 'spiritualism,' which is a science has been relegated to an unpopular and obscure position of social labels such as that of mere schizophrenia, simple-useless drug induced hallucinations and more or less hippie ****. The common American politician and corporate entity in an official capacity commonly portrays todays 'indian,' and indian potential as a remedial work force of laborers who can just build another casino on a reservation. For many of us, 'shamanism,' is a valid, useful, practical and worthy venture, which isnt smoke and mirrors or an excuse to get high or just an idea that rests quietly on our book shelves or in the deaths of our ancestors. I watched some of the movie you all have commented on, the BBC rendition of Castaneda and what it means to proper Englishmen and after a few minutes I stopped the movie and went to do something meaningful. For quite some many years, the United States Government and its collaborators, such as Great Britain and the European Union which used to be the European Economic Community have systematically waged a mostly succsessful campaign of evilization and the criminalization of any person, foreign or domestic who can be conveniently placed by them into the category of a terrorist and this is exactly what BBC and others have done with the name of Carlos Castaneda and the concept of shamanism in general... ...That it is the ideal of political dissidents who wish to do harm to others and who present a substantial threat of harm to society and where this type of labeling comes from is from the various institutions of psychiatry. It is true that the psychiatric communities especially in the United States have officially labled the common and tribal based spiritual practices of American Indians and any other practitioner as a mental illness. See the current edition of the Diagnostics and Statistical Manual of Mental Illnesses as well as the Operators Handbooks of the various United States Departments of Mental Health. In our times, instead of their being a cowboy or U.S soldier to do away with shamanism, the job has been given to the field of psychiatry. That is where the nay sayers are coming from and it is the self interest of the practices of psychiatry which generates the type of propaganda such as the BBC movie so-called 'about,' Castaneda. One wouldnt think this to be true, atleast not at first glance. In some ways, what the pseudo medical community of psychiatry is doing with their anti-spiritual agenda, is competing with other organizations, such shamanism which offer alternatives to modern holistic medicine. Its a business tactic, that these shrinkies are doing with their program which has nothing to do with personal growth, independence or freedom and so far theyve been quite successful. But, they havnt beaten all of us. Thats what seeing does for you. Dont just look at the shamans cognitive system as the hobbie of spirtual playfulness. Its a business too and were always looking for clients...

There's plenty we didn't like about the Nazis, but that didn't stop us from utilizing their aerospace technology. The same could be said about Castaneda.
