trees grow in time.. and get a ring every year..
unless you have a tree coring machine most tree rings you count are dead on the side of the bough furthest from the root bolus!
the wheel of 365days is also a ring.. which we plod around ...
that is not to say we circumnavigate a tree every year!
although i hear that more moss grows on the easterly side!
