The Warrior's Discipline
#1
~
"... by discipline, I don't mean harsh routines. Sorcerers understand discipline as the capacity to face with serenity odds that are not included in our expectations. For them, discipline is a volitional act that enables them to intake anything that comes their way without regrets or expectations. For sorcerers, discipline is an art: the art of facing infinity without flinching, not because they are filled with toughness, but because they are filled with awe. Summing it all up, I would say that discipline is the art of feeling awe."
Juan Matus
(from Carlos Castaneda's book: "Tensegrity...", p.8.)
In Dreaming, have you ever just sat on the edge of infinity, just watching, looking, breathlessly?
Have you ever pushed your Dreaming attention to the limit, to the limit of your own personal power/attention and just relaxed for a moment or two?
This…this is what excites me.  At times I’ve called out, voiced my Intent in Dreaming; at times the scenes change, other times they don’t.
Is the Dreaming all in my head?  Who knows?  Look at the small amount of ‘brain’ or mind we actually use.  Look at all the imagination we’ve yet to imagine!
When the Dreaming doesn’t shift or change, is this another world?  Who knows?  What fun it will be to explore this vastness!
Perhaps it’s my predilection to explore.  Who knows?
For those who have experienced this, you know.  You know that feeling that arises at some level.  For those who have not experienced this, as brother Elias stated, come and join us!  Contentment, solitude, true peace and even….do I dare say it??  Unconcern.
In my humble opinion, unconcern is not an action but a result.  It’s the same with non-attachment.  We can achieve neither directly, but you know what?  We can sneak up on it!  How do we go about this?
Discipline!  Easy now, don’t go getting all freaked out on me!  Some say they don’t like discipline, some say they have none.
Just remember:  “Sorcerers understand discipline as the capacity to face with serenity odds that are not included in our expectations. For them, discipline is a volitional act that enables them to intake anything that comes their way without regrets or expectations”.
What are you waiting for?  Let’s go!
Discipline is, indeed, the supreme joy of feeling reverent awe; of watching, with my mouth open, whatever is behind those secret doors of infinity.
SHM
P.S. – “What about our waking world?  Is there reverent awe right here, right now”?  Of course!
My personal favorite is kicking up my heels in the backyard at the crack between the worlds and watching the bats fly.
What about you?
Have you ever looked at the bottom of your coffee cup and wondered how that one grain of coffee got stuck in that exact place at that exact time with you watching?  Have you ever stood toe to toe with a friend, lover or enemy, watching their blood boil for one reason or another and wondered in awe of why you are there at that exact time, or how you got to that exact time and place via your life?
Amazing, simply amazing…
