from Light on the Path by Mabel Collins
#1
"Seek in the heart the source of evil and expunge it. It lives
fruitfully in the heart of the devoted disciple as well as in the heart
of the man of desire. Only the strong can kill it out. The weak must
wait for its growth, its fruition, its death. And it is a plant that
lives and increases throughout the ages. It flowers when the man has
accumulated unto himself innumerable existences. He who will enter upon
the path of power must tear this thing out of his heart. And then the
heart will bleed, and the whole life of the man seem to be utterly
dissolved. This ordeal must be endured; it may come at the first step of
the perilous ladder which leads to the path of life: it may not come
until the last. But, O disciple, remember that it has to be endured: and
fasten the energies of your soul upon the task. Live neither in the
present nor the future, but in the eternal. This giant weed cannot
flower there: this blot upon existence is wiped out by the very
atmosphere of eternal thought".

wow yeah. dj - there will come a day when the mind flees forever. a sad day indeed for a sorcerer. he is left alone in the world shy insecure, and with no resources of his own.

lol giant weed. that's our tree the giant weed. it's more like vines. choking vines. but still true enough.

A better metaphor for it would be a tool or a domestic plant, maybe genetically modified corn would be best or the plow since along with that came domestication on a mass scale. Weeds are fine, many edible, many medicinal, entheogenic etc, they carry the variety genetically and are of the wild: willful, strong, intelligent survivor thrivers. They are the roots of us.

yeah it is as are some potatoes and probably a bunch of others, still eat some weeds and go into trance and you will see them in your dancing, i experienced that once. I have been noticing a plant, usually growing near corn fields that looks much like corn only weedier, i am wondering are these 3rd or 4th generation corn gone wild again plants or something else like sorghum?? that isn't grown around here much anymore but these resemble what I think sorghum looks like having only seen it once

an interesting book is The Botany of Desire tracing the genetics of the mary lady, potatoes, johnny's apple seeds, and the uber-refined tulips and their relationship to human desire.

may you write more on tackling the flier sometime?

Mornings Son This book is one of my all time favourites. Also great is Blavatsky's Voice of the Silence, in the same league.

Refreshing to see some diverse philosophies on here.

sure - if you see it in your way - which would otherwise be clear or well lit, tackle it - grab it like any other ally.

it won't make the foreign mind go away, but at least it wont be getting your energy.

then it takes some training. like a dog

more or less it's probably just best to ignore it if you can. keep those eyes low - you saw that tip the death defier gave? works like a charm
