It ocurred to me a few days ago that Casteneda's last book, "The Art of Dreaming" is very different from his previous books. Both in mood and in subject matter.
The mood is almost one of hopelessness in the respect that he gives the impression that you can't win against the fliers and other dream visitors.
The subject matter seems to lean very heavily toward inorganic beings and their influence on him.
I believe there is a very logical reason for this. There is a connection here.
I believe Carlos was so influenced by the fliers aquired from his dreaming practices, that THEY virtually wrote the book through him.
They brought the mood and message of hopelessness.
They bring the message that they cannot be defeated.
Their first strategy is to make you think that they do not exist.
Once you do know that they exist they are immediately aware that we are aware of them.
At that moment, their strategy must change. It is no use to pretend anymore that they do not exist when you know that they do and they know that you know...
Now they try to make you think that they are all powerfull.
I don't buy it and I don't buy into Castaeneda's last book.
Any thoughts?

Hello Bright Flame. The Art of Dreaming wasn't CC's last book, I believe you meant "The Active Side Of Infinity" his last book where the flyer was at revealed to the reader.
You say that the flyer meant to show in the book that it couldn't be completely beaten.
I believe the following about our flyers:
Yes they can be beaten by a warrior.
Yes they can be removed from the body.
They survive outside the human host and live for many centuries before finally dropping onto the ground and dying.
When a person dies the flyer goes on and will be stronger than flyers who haven't gained energy from a human host. Those flyers will often reinfest another human as soon as possible thus another even darker cycle of feeding.
Flyers that are beaten by a warrior never again will be strong for the other flyers can see that they were made smaller.
Flyers do indeed know when a human is aware of them.
Flyers talk to each other even as we talk to each other at the same time.
Flyers love and feed on spikes of energy created by violence and sexual depravity.
Alot of flyers are not violent and are passive, and even love being in humans and enjoy having a human host that they can sample life with. These types most often are in women.
Humans that have mental diseases sometimes will not be infested.
Indians because of their blood are most resistance to flyer inhabitation.
Blacks,Orientals, and Europeans of moorish descent are most likely to have powerful flyers in them.
There are millions of flyers on our world and for every human there are at least 20 flyers.
Some flyers have no desire to feed on humans.
That is some of the information my studies of the flyer has shown to me, any comments on this material is appreciated of course.

Hi Lone Wolf,
Hello Bright Flame. The Art of Dreaming wasn't CC's last book, I believe you meant "The Active Side Of Infinity" his last book where the flyer was at revealed to the reader.
I stand corrected. And in that case what I said would go for his last two books. I am now crawlig my way through the "Art of Dreaming' and I will have to buy another copy of "the Active Side..." and reread it also.
My point is that the mood of the book bothers me. Whereas his previous books give me a sense of wonder and adventure, the "Art of Dreaming" gives a sense of dread and doom.
I think this was his mood when he wrote it and I believe it was a mood instilled in him by "hitchhikers" that he picked up through his dreaming practices. I further believe that it was "on purpose" on the fliers' part, and that Carlos was merely a victim and a pawn spreading depression to his readers. I don't even really trust the subject matter in this book.
I could be wrong in this, but I have seen very similar thing happen before.
This is how "so called" "deliverance" churches have gotten started. They base their whole ministry on exorcising demons and going to war with the demons. Not that this is a bad thing in and of itself, but it can be over-done. It can cause people to live in fear.
We can spend too much time looking at the problem and miss the solution.
To know that most of mankind is possessed to some degree or another is enough. Now we know. Now we are "disillusioned". That is a good thing! It is painful at first to find out that there is no Santa Claus. It is also painful at first to find that people are not always in control of what they do and say.
We now have a larger view of reality. That's what we sought and that is what we found. I only hope that we don't get bogged down by the negative because there is so much more possitive to come.
Balance in all things. Remember to look for the Good in all things and especially in people. In this way the good will reflect back to you.
"Whatsoever is good, pure, and Holy,....Think on these things" "Knock and it shall be opened,...seek and ye shall find"..., etc.
PS. Good to talk to you again.

Whatever you give your attention to, lives. It's as simple as that.
If a person is always feeding a thought, concept or emotion with their attention eventually it becomes a perception , a flyer, a foreign installation, a reality from which we view life.
e.g.. Let's take anger. The more one gives attention to angry feelings the more life it is given, and if all of humanity is feeding the same idea with attention it takes on a life of it's own and demands energy from it subscribers. To me, this is what a demon is.
Now after we realize what is going on, what can be done about it?.
It's obvious, withdraw your attention. Ahh, if only it could be that easy. Something like anger has now taken a life of it's own, demanding attention.
An exercise I have performed is as the emotion arises within deliberately let it go, be watchful because it will arise over and over, keep on withdrawing your energy from it.
I know you can feel like you are in the fires of hell, but eventually it gets weaker and one is not so possessed with it anymore and would probably say something like, Anger used to have a hold on me but no more.
Still a big problem exists though, nearly all of humanity has given attention to anger, so I would have to say that the 'individual' has to start the process of releasing the attention.
Can you imagine if all of humanity decided at the same time to stop feeding anger with attention?
Well that's one dead demon. But that is not likely, is it. So it is up to the individual.
The word individual means can not be divided, by the way.

Recapitulating about your attention of these demons can take away their attention and won't be as tough as they used to be. It goes for a dreaming entity I had anyway, it always bothered me when I thought about the experience until I decided to recapitulate everything about that dreaming experience. I felt a surge of energy and my whole body was shaking, I couldn't quite exhale completly. But in the end, it finaly broke and it doesn't bother me anymore.
Maybe it can be done to angers we give attention to. So we can get rid of it more faster and more efficiently.

Hi Jeric,
I agree, Recapitulation is an efficient way of dealing with neg. emotions, false perceptions etc.
