Overview of Dog Energy: also known as raccoon, wolf, friend and enemy, spirit

Dog is the trustworthy guide to the underworld and symbolizes the great scribes of the Maya. Dog energy emanates justice, law and unmoving faith. They are our loyal companions and closest guardians who show us the meaning of unconditional love. By contrast, on the streets of Maya-land where life is merciless, we see mangy dogs, eating every scrap they can find, prowling, fighting and returning bloody after being gone for days. Regardless of the conditions of their life, however, Dog’s are playful, instinctive survivors. A Dog person will feel more aligned and supported by having one at their side throughout life.

The Vertical Axis – indicates a strong influence by the direction North where the color is white and the energy is intellectual, analytical and cold like winter

Conception (head) Sign: Wind

The strong energy of Wind gives Dog momentum from an early age. Dog’s moods are changeable and it is important to be sensitive and articulate so that other’s feelings are not damaged.

Mayan Birth Day Sign: The predominant energy in your Mayan Cross

Dog’s make spirited, fun-loving friends, advisers and role models to the introverts. A person born on a Dog day makes a good Mayan Priest (Ajq’ijab’). They represent the spiritual and natural laws of human kind and hold the commensurate authority of enforcing justice. They hold the power to intercede and petition the deities on behalf of constituents.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Flint

Because of Flint energy, a Dog person is destined to remove negative influences from his/her personal life and the lives of others. Your strong sense of integrity, earned the hard way, brings you the authority and the privilege to open doors and cut open the veils of illusion and deception. This may affect many people in all walks of life.

The Horizontal Axis – influenced by the energies of the direction South. Here the color is yellow and, as with the Earth, brings fulfillment, like the warming energy of summer

Left Arm – Challenges: Wisdom
Dog’s can get lazy and they may get into trouble due to their strong carnal instincts. This nawal helps with forgiveness, of self and others. Dog can call upon this nawal to right his/her wrong doings and improve the reputation.

Right Arm – Gifts: Net
The energy of Net will amplify Dog’s ability to develop relationships and network with many people. The key to Dog’s legacy is to stay focused on the spiritual path and be the change s/he wishes to see in the world.

My interpretation:

Overview of Road Energy: the path, destiny, and tooth

A Road person usually makes an impact that reaches far and wide. Road is an important energy in the Mayan calendar system due to the status as one of the four Year Bearers of the Haab calendar and considered to be one of the gentler energies among them. Road’s spiritual path may be a long, crooked one which leads to so many dead ends and twisted alleys that it oftentimes seems like an endless maze. If Road learns to adhere to their truth, they can cut out the negativity from life and unfold the beauty of the great cycles of life. When aligned with their soul’s purpose, they are headed towards the sun, also known as the hunter, whose moral and spiritual impeccability takes aim and never misses the mark.

The Vertical Axis – is ruled by the direction South, where the color is yellow and, as with the Earth, brings the energy of restoration, renewal and fulfillment, like the warmth of summer.

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross, Road
Road, also thought of as “path” or “grass” is the nawal (spiritual companion) found in the heart center of this Mayan Cross and is the most obvious frequency of your energetic signature. A person with the sign Road is skilled in working with others and has the potential to be a strong leader. Road tends to reach out, inspiring and entertaining a wide audience. Lucky in love, Road’s are born travelers, allured by all things foreign, yet happy to return and be at home. Aligned Road people are often glorified historically and regarded as an authority.

Conception (head) Sign: Net
The nawal Net engenders the 260 day gestation process for Road and helps formulate the karmic inheritance for this Mayan day sign. Net energy indicates previous entanglements that need to be cleared in order to find life-fulfillment, but Net also has an ability to discover creative ways to untangle and find the gifts that rest beneath messy situations.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Sun
The energy of the Sun implies that Road stands a good chance of achieving much and meeting his/her goals. This does not necessarily come easily, as Road puts on a lot of emotional miles in search of Truth and meaning. Hunters must be stable and clear of mind, secure in the wilds and able to overcome obstacles.

The Horizontal Axis – influenced by the direction North where the color is white and the energy is intellectual, analytical and cold like winter

Left Arm – Challenges: Flint/Obsidian Knife

This nawal on the left side of the Mayan Cross indicates protection from the deceptions of others and tells you when to retreat in a negative situation. This favors not only in material terms but also in spiritually. This will be useful as Road untangles the karmic Net and works towards becoming a self-realized and an influential Elder.

Right Arm – Gifts: Death/Great Cycles
The nawal that manages the great cycle of life, death and rebirth on the right side of the Mayan Cross denotes an inclination to the past and strong connection with the ancestral realm. For Road, this will be observed in old age.

Overview of Reed Energy: cane, altar

Reeds growing by the water’s edge are dried and then hand-woven into materials that are used for practical and spiritual purposes found everywhere in Maya-land. Reed mats are used for sitting in front of home altars and for council meetings, carrying an air of authority. Reed is considered the nawal who protects and reconciles differences on the domestic front, in the home and in the fields. Reeds are the guiding light of home and hearth and they feel most comfortable reading a book around the fire surrounded by loved ones. They understand the strength that comes from community and commitment but can become dependent and overly needy. To be aligned and supported in the universe, a person born on this day must be near the altar, in the community circle, near the lakeshore or cornfields.

The Vertical Axis – This Cross has a strong influence from the direction East, where the color is red and the dawn of each new day radiates promise, like the energy of spring.

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross
As keepers of the fire of the hearth, persons born on this day are centered, loving, and intelligent and possess sacred knowledge. They hold much respect for the plant kingdom and gifts from the Earth. The key to their success is to recognize the esoteric gifts and Destiny for this sign, so that they may experience the divine love that supersedes all else and brings ultimate completion. Reed is engendered by the day Serpent and holds the destiny of the Crocodile. The combination of these energies will provide an inexhaustible power and enrich life by extraordinary experiences. The Reed person is very prone to mysticism.

Conception (head) Sign: Serpent
Serpent energy engenders the nine month gestation period of Reed, as well as the first 13 years of the young adult life. Boundless energy, physical, strong and attractive, the Reed is challenged by this, especially sexually. Reed needs to channel this information in positive directions. Its intensity provides the potential of manifesting paranormal power.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Crocodile
Adding the esoteric energy of Crocodile to the Reed configuration increases the possibility for psi capabilities. This sign may cause conflict and emotional pain because they feel abnormal. Reeds may tend to use their intellect as a defense mechanism, but the curiosity of Crocodile can shift this to intrigue and appreciation of other-worldliness.

The Horizontal Axis – This Cross is influenced by the energy from the direction West and the color is Blue/black, where the sun sinks into the underworld each Dawn – like the introspective energy of autumn.

Left Arm – Challenges: Rainstorm
Reed’s family and community orientation can grow into a passion for social justice and equality among people. Reed's can get trapped in the weeds of the dysfunctional dynamics of group energy and become overwhelmed. Because Rainstorm is the energy of family dynamics and emotional turbulence, it is important to call upon this nawal to balance and help control sadness and depression. This energy can be used as a change agent instead of a challenge, if approached with respect and williingness.

Right Arm- Gifts: Deer
This sign keeps Reed centered. Deer inspires Reed and enhances the imagination offered by Crocodile, leading to interest and
aptitude in the arts.

Overview of Deer Energy: foundational, harmonic, graceful

Deer energy is solidly placed in each of the four cardinal directions and four elements of fire, earth, water and air. Deer is one of the four Year Bearers, considered one of the more powerful and intense. Deer are the pillars of stability between the earth and the sky energies. To the Maya, the Deer is a stag-like energy like the horse, and is not to be confused with the demure “Bambi” creature. Deer need to be agile because its predators are the jaguar, they need to be strong and agile. Deer have the potential to be effective day keepers and diviners. Deer are the guardians of nature and those born on this day feel most aligned when they are in nature or among their four-legged friends.

The Vertical Axis  of this Mayan Cross is ruled by the direction West, where the sun sets and transforms the pink, purple and dark blue colors into the black of night. The West causes us to look into the underworld of our souls, our shadow, in order to bring about change. The West is like the energy of autumn.

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross, Deer
A person born on the day Deer is steadfast, honest, graceful and noble. Like the king of the forest, they do well in executive roles. They are smart, have keen senses and are good listeners but, if out of alignment, will dominate to the point of imbalance. Deer demands authenticity in others yet may become too principled for their own good. They are romantics who use music, especially harmonies, and writing as seductive and creative outlets. They are surrounded by children, though they may not be their own. Deer know how to conserve resources and not waste opportunities.
Conception (head): Rainstorm
The person born on the day Deer is engendered with the energy of Rainstorm, which has them deeply connected to family life and the ancestors. This energy brings opportunities and abundance if they are able to recognize the importance of saving and sharing. This also means that many children, even if they are adopted or fostered, will be in their lives.  This essence of Rainstorm, combined with the gifts of Crocodile energy, enable Deer to have a rich heart-felt connection with other beings and souls.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Bird
A Deer with the Bird as destiny means that their path leads to luck and fortune. The Deer may use all of their gifts to become a highly effective leader who shows, through act, word and deed, how to be in the world: authentic, uncompromisingly principled and guided by the forces of nature and spirit.

The Horizontal Axis – reveals those energies that need to be balanced in order to reach the destiny;  influenced by the direction East where the color is Red and the dawn of each new day comes forth like the hopeful energy of spring

Left Arm – Challenges: Reed
The nawal Reed brings Deer good fortune, opportunities and recognition as an authority. This energy can also make Deer take on too much in relationships and neediness for security on the home front.

Right Arm  – Gifts: Crocodile
The energy of Crocodile orients Deer’s life to art and a search for beauty and harmony. This will balance Deer’s inflexibility with flexibility and lend an air of uniqueness to Deer.

Overview of Bird Energy: messenger, fortune, abundance, eagle/ swallow

Bird is the lord of the sky, the intermediary between heaven and earth, who inspires humans to reach for the loftiest heights while accepting the corporeal nature of their being. The power in this sign is demonstrated in a variety of ways depending upon which Mayan tradition is doing the explaining: the giant wing span and predatory nature of eagles, the regal plumes of the Quetzal or the sweet sound of chirping swallows are all conjured by various Mayan daykeepers. All birds power the Heart of the Heavens and are guardians of all Mayan lands. To be aligned and supported in the universe, a person born on this day must see the big sky and be in the high country.

The Vertical Axis of Bird's Mayan Cross is ruled by the direction West, where the sun sets and transforms the pink, purple and dark blue colors into the black of night. The West causes us to look into the underworld of our souls, our shadow, in order to bring about change. The West is like the energy of autumn.

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross

Because bird feathers have traditionally been considered a sign of wealth, a person born on Bird is likely to have no difficulty manifesting wealth, prosperity and material gain. Birds are considered to be lucky and free-spirited. They have a talent for envisioning the big picture, spotting opportunity and pulling the resources together to make things happen. A person born on Bird receives messages from the gods through birds. Birds can be self-serving. They steal seeds and crops from the fields and can puff with pride for having done so.

Conception (head) Sign: Deer
Deer energy indicates that Bird loves and needs nature to stay centered and nourished. Birds are very adaptive, friendly and have a tendency towards leadership, which is enhanced by the Deer energy.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Dawn
Dawn energy suggests to Bird that they will need to discover their ancestors and heal their ancestral wounds. Their youthful energy will enable them to pursue spiritual tasks and innovatively utilize technology to accomplish them.

The Horizontal Axis – reveals those energies that need to be balanced in order to reach the destiny; influenced by the direction East where the color is red and the dawn of each new day comes forth like the hopeful energy of spring

Left Arm – Challenges: Crocodile

The energy of Crocodile adds unconventional and unexpected characteristics into the mix of influences. This makes Bird eccentric which can be considered strange by others not interested in mysticism. The key is in intelligent expression of these ideas.

Right Arm – Gifts: Offering
This sign indicates that Bird will need to dedicate her/himself to the ritual of group and personal fire ceremonies. The ability to pray, ask for help and develop receptivity of guidance from the nawales gives Bird harmony and balance.

Overview of Monkey Energy : thread, weaver of time

The Maya of Guatemala start the count of days with Monkey, and consider those born on this day to be great initiators, both materially and spiritually. Monkey energy inspires others to create, produce and enjoy the process. To be aligned and supported by the universe, Monkey’s must spend time in the forests and high country. When aligned with their soul’s purpose, their work may be in the arts or service-oriented. They exude laughter, light and love.

The Vertical Axis of the Mayan Cross is ruled by the direction West, where the sun sets and transforms the pink, purple and dark blue colors into the black of night. The energy of the West creates a tendency to look into the underworld of our souls, our shadow, in order to bring about change. The West is like the energy of autumn.

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross, Monkey

Monkey is the nawal (spiritual companion) found in the heart center of this Mayan Cross, who resonates most loudly from your energetic signature. Monkey’s are born with an ability to understand the great mysteries of life. They have the potential to serve an important role as the weaver of time, the carrier of the consciousness that causes souls to connect with each other. Monkey symbolizes continuity with the past, the common thread that weaves us all together as one. This is the energy that is found in the veins and arteries of the human body and the threads woven into beautiful fabric. Monkey also signifies the oldest sibling. Monkey’s are fun-loving, creative and, once they settle down, they find spirit. Monkeys need to manage their intense sexual and creative energy, as well as control their ever-active mind, in order to be fulfilled and realized.

Conception (head) Sign: Dawn
The Monkey is engendered by the spiritually mature energy of the nawal Dawn, who shows us the subtle aspects of life and steers us away from seeing things in harsh, black and white terms. Dawn is the energy present during the conception of Monkey and its softness influences Monkey’s karmic inheritance. Even as children, Monkey’s may have a sense that they have already learned many important lessons and need to take advantage of them this time around.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Rainstorm
Monkey’s destiny is influenced by the energy of the Rainstorm, strong, foreboding, yet cleansing, nourishing and purifying. This is the feminine energy of midwives who know how to move through the pain to find the gifts of life; of the mothers who consistently keep their family on the authentic path, away from trivial and less-than-noble pursuits. Monkey has the potential to be a dignified figure in a loving, mutually respectful community. If misaligned, Monkey will become dysfunctional and depressed, alone or surrounded with no one who truly understands or appreciates others.

The Horizontal Axis – These are the energies that need to be balanced in order to reach your destiny; You are influenced by the direction East where the color is red and the dawn of each new day comes forth like the hopeful energy of spring.

Left Arm - Challenges: Knowledge

Knowledge on the left side indicates that in order for Monkey to earn the nobility inherent in this sign, s/he needs to stay grounded to the earth and not spend all the time swinging in the trees. If Monkey sincerely seeks the spirit of Knowledge, s/he will possess spiritual and artistic gifts.

Right Arm - Gifts: Serpent
Serpent on the right side gives Monkey the necessary extra force to transmute internal energy and fire to fulfill the soul’s purpose. Managing this power is Monkey’s greatest test, yet provides the opportunity to perform many healings and experience many positive life changes.

Overview of Sun Energy: blow gun hunter, hero

This is the extroverted energy of the radiant Sun, worshiped everyday by everyone on earth. Famous for overcoming negativity, this is Ajaw, the man, the boss, and the sacred warrior who knows what to stand for and how to stand for it. Movements of this energy affect the eclipses, solstices and equinoxes, which, in turn, shape the psyche of the entire world. This is huge, masculine power that lives to prove its worth and merit. To be aligned and supported, a person born on this day must be in touch with the sun, on the beach or in areas with a big sky.

The Vertical Axis – Sun is strongly influenced by the energies of the direction South. Here the color is yellow and, as with the Earth, brings fulfillment, like the warming energy of summer

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross
This nawal has the potential to be one of solar mastery, emanating light and pure consciousness, providing an example of enlightenment for all. There will be those that try to undermine Sun’s noble efforts, but Sun can overcome the obstacles by realizing who the allies are and how to treat them well. Take care not to become paranoid, but to ask for guidance and make offerings. Stay humble, as the ego could be your demise. A well-aligned Sun person surmounts the many tests they face and exemplifies for others how to spiritually persevere.

Conception (head) Sign: Road
Sun will be on the road beginning early in life. S/he may be adopted by another family. Suns will be world citizens, may live abroad and reach out to a large community.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Seed
Sun’s thoughts, words and deeds may be so impeccable that many will be inspired by those born on Sun to plant their own seeds in similar fashion.

The Horizontal Axis – influenced by the direction North where the color is white and the timbre is intellectual, analytical and cold like the energy of winter

Left Arm – Challenges: Death
Having the nawal of Death in this corner indicates that Sun must surrender the ego, perhaps dramatically, in order to inherit the gift of ancestral wisdom and the power that comes with it.

Right Arm – Gifts: Jaguar
Sun’s have creative ability and esoteric power. In male Sun’s, they need to understand their women in order to thrive. In Sun women, the gift of femininity is theirs by cultivating their proximity to dear Mother Earth and her feline friends.

Overview of Wisdom Energy: ancestral wisdom, foregiveness, vulture and honeybee

This is the energy of the fallen nature and frailty of the human condition. Our goals and dreams may be lofty, but we can also plummet into despair on the turn of a dime. The key is whether or not we can forgive ourselves, and others, for our faults and transgressions. This is the energy of the mistakes we all make, the shame we feel when we do, and the Wisdom which is manifested through forgiveness. To be aligned and supported in the universe, a person born on this day would do well to carry a staff while hiking to caves, in caverns, streams and forests.

The Vertical Axis – Wisdom is strongly influenced by the energies of the direction South. Here the color is yellow and, as with the Earth, brings fulfillment, like the warming energy of summer

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross

This sign has a great propensity for receiving signs and information from the ancestors, with whom they are well-connected. Wisdom lives are filled with many twists and turns that steadily build to create a long and amazing life. Overtly, the person born on this day is a well-defined, popular character, getting along well with all sorts of people, creating many friends and admirers. Little do all these people know that the Wisdom is quite insecure on the inside and may be prone to depressing, worry and negative thoughts. Their work is to learn to forgive. They do well and are inspiring in their service to others.

Conception (head) Sign: Seed

The Wisdom person is influenced by the Seed sign in a way that ideas and projects will need to germinate steadily, requiring patience and tenacity. They are dedicated to working with children, perhaps adopting one or more in their families.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Net
This sign indicates that Wisdom will have plenty of life challenges and entanglements but will be able to find the gifts inherent in these experiences. Their future may be uncertain, but they are graced with their ancestral connection. If they use their guidance, the Net becomes a mechanism for gathering the fruits from all of their labors.

The Horizontal Axis – influenced by the direction North where the color is white and the timbre is intellectual, analytical and cold like the energy of winter

Left Arm – Challenges: Wind
Wisdom benefits by paying attention to the energy of Wind. S/he veers away from its power at first, but, if aligned and listening, will eventually bring power and connection from the ancestors. This has all the potential to lead Wisdom to their higher mind and expanded consciousness.

Right Arm – Gifts: Dog
Dog symbolizes spiritual law and authority and this is one of the strengths of a Wisdom person. Wisdom has the power, insight and ability to be a wonderful healer of organic diseases. S/he will be in alignment with auspicious forces by seizing the Wisdom of the ancestors and bringing it to the light for others. Their potential is to become a galactic guide.

You rock for posting this site here!
I've been using the Mayan Tzolkin/Nawal as a daily divination tool for about 6 years now and it's amazing. Try following it daily with a website or an app, currently I use an android one called Mayan Nawal (LINK: https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... mayannawal ). That one has really good summarized descriptions, sometimes the English is a bit off but it kind of makes it feel a bit more authentic to me lol.

I'm happy you posted a link that calculates the real true Mayan day signs, their potential is infinite. There's a fake rip off version called the "dreamspell calendar". Be warned stay far away from that version, it's a belief system rather than an observation of the universe.

Yes and no. I can't speak for everyone, but by analyzing the daily signs compared to my sign has shed a lot of light on my inner self.
If there was ever an animal that teaches me almost every day it would be the Jaguar just like my day sign, but you have to keep in mind some Mayan day signs are not even animals, for example Ben (the Reed, or the Corn). It would of course be IN A WAY, always related to your whole spiritual composure, but not always directly.

A lot of the time it might be a weird, mysterious and indirect connection that doesn't make sense until many things begin to make sense all at once.
I guess what I'm trying to say is... Use it as a tool but don't anchor much ego in to it.

Overview of Seed Energy: corn, star, semen, origin, germination, rabbit

The Mayan creation story says that four prophets from Pleiades came to Earth to create human beings. They tried four times before successfully creating a species from corn that could speak and worship the Creator. To the Maya, both the human and kernels of corn (seeds) are made from the same star-like stuff, namely Venus. The four colors of people, the four colors of corn and the colors of the four directions have the same origin. The energy of Seed germinates, procreates and populates. A person born on this day feels aligned and supported when in the fields or star-gazing.

The Vertical Axis – This Cross is strongly influenced by the energies of the direction South. Here the color is yellow and, as with the Earth, brings fulfillment, like the warming energy of summer

Heart Sign: The predominant sign of your Mayan Cross
Seed carries the grand design, the DNA blueprint for every living manifestation on Earth. This sign is a good omen as it is the energy of creation, the new beginning and the potential to proliferate it throughout all existence. People born on this day are adaptable, survivors who can re-create themselves several times during their lives. These people thrive in tranquil settings and seek roots. They have patience, plan carefully and trust that their efforts will bear fruit. Very fertile and sensual, they will have children that may suffer from Seed’s over protective nature.

Conception (head) Sign: Sun
Sun energy gives Seed a positive force in helping them overcome the trials of childhood. This energy gives Seed clarity in the direction they take in life. Their purpose may be providing service to others.

Destiny (feet) Sign: Wisdom

Seed’s future is determined by their innate adaptability and the Wisdom’s curiosity. Seed’s will follow their bliss, find spiritual growth through their search for inner powers.

The Horizontal Axis – influenced by the direction North where the color is white and the energetic effect on the person is intellectual and analytical in nature and cold like the energy of winter

Left Arm – Challenges: Jaguar
Seeds hesitate to step into their personal power but when the time comes, they will do so respectfully and eloquently. Seeds must learn to not to take on other’s responsibilities and terminate codependent relationships on their terms.

Right Side – Gifts: Wind

Wind on the right side gives Seed plenty of momentum to take action. This energy brings creation through sound, either voice or instruments, and offers uniqueness and the propensity to dream the impossible and make it real.
