DO you believe there is a GOD and why?
#51
Yes, This is why.

Genesis 28

1
And Isaac called Jacob, and blessed him, and charged him, and said to him, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of
Canaan.

2
Arise, go to Padan-aram, to the house of Bethuel thy mother's father; and take thee a wife from thence of the daughters of
Laban thy mother's brother.

3
And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;

4
And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land in which thou art a
stranger, which God gave to Abraham.

5
And Isaac sent away Jacob: and he went to Padan-aram, to Laban, son of Bethuel the Syrian, the brother of Rebekah, Jacob's and
Esau's mother.

6
When Esau saw that Isaac had blessed Jacob, and sent him away to Padan-aram, to take him a wife from thence; and that as he blessed
him, he gave him a charge, saying, Thou shalt not take a wife of the daughters of Canaan;

7
And that Jacob obeyed his father, and his mother, and was gone to Padan-aram;

8
And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father;

9
Then went Esau to Ishmael, and took to the wives which he had, Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham's son, the sister of
Nebajoth, to be his wife.

10
And Jacob went out from Beer-sheba, and went towards Haran.

11
And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night, because the sun was set: and he took of the stones of that place,
and put them for his pillows, and lay down in that place to sleep.

12
And he dreamed, and behold, a ladder set upon the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven: and behold, the angels of God
ascending and descending on it.

13
And behold, the LORD stood above it, and said, I am the LORD God of Abraham thy father, and the God of Isaac: the land on which
thou liest, to thee will I give it, and to thy seed.

14
And thy seed shall be as the dust of the earth; and thou shalt spread abroad to the west, and to the east, and to the north, and to
the south: and in thee and in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed.

15
And behold, I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest, and will bring thee again into this land: for I
will not leave thee, until I have done that which I have declared to thee.

16
And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not.

17
And he was afraid, and said, How dreadful is this place! this is no other but the house of God, and this is the gate of
heaven.

18
And Jacob rose early in the morning, and took the stone that he had put for his pillows, and set it up for a pillar, and poured oil
on the top of it.

19
And he called the name of that place Beth-el: but the name of that city was called Luz at the first.

20
And Jacob vowed a vow, saying, If God will be with me, and will keep me in this way that I go, and will give me bread to eat, and
raiment to put on,

21
So that I come again to my father's house in peace; then shall the LORD be my God:

22
And this stone, which I have set for a pillar, shall be God's house: and of all that thou shalt give me, I will surely give the
tenth to thee.

I have had this experience. I have seen this "ladder" and been encased and surrounded by it. The land promised by the Lord God of Abraham, the God of
Isaac is a "Spiritual Land" where experiences like this are commonplace.

This place is "dreadful" or frightening only because it is so beyond that in which we live our "normal lives."

The undeniable realization after an experience like this is stated by Jacob in these words;

"And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not."

If we would all awaken out of our sleep and realize the same thing that Jacob did, (Being that the "Land" in this story is a place in Consciousness,
not a geographical location) we would realize our arrogance and blindness.

We would also realize we have been living in what amounts to a "shadowland" or "cartoon" in comparison to that "Land" related in
this story.

The entire purpose and reason for being here is to wake up,..to lift the veil. Only to find there there is another veil beyond that.

But to become "one with the ladder" itself is to realize we do not have to climb it. We become the conduit that reaches from heaven to earth. But
that is another story.

Hello Bob May

I woke up one morning a few years ago saying "Melchizedek" ..At that time I could not make heads or tails out of its meaning. Do you know how this is
God Incarnate in the OT and how in the NT , Paul parallels this to Jesus -a priesthood for ever after the order of Melchizedek ...Hebrews 7 ?

I feel it is the missing link to all religions.

Thanks for any input .

Hi Ninth,

A very mysterious character.

He appears to Abram (before his name changed to Abraham) in Gen 14:

18
And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.

19
And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:

20
And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

This is the only place he's mentioned in the OT, as far as I know.

In the NT Paul mentions him and says without father or mother, beginning of days or end of life.

Probably referring to the Holy Spirit or Christ before incarnation?

One thing I do know is I found the name hidden in ELS codes right in Genesis 14. It forms a perfect cross with the name Joshua (which is Jesus in Hebrew.)
Melchizadek forms the cross beam and Josua the upright of the cross.

This would make sense symbolically as Jesus came down and Melchizedek remained on a higher plane.

In other words Jesus' Spirit or "Higher Self."

That is the best way I can understand it. There obviously is a connection there though because of the closeness of the two words.

It makes you wonder where Paul got his information though. He did not have a computer to search out these connections.

What Paul is showing here in Hebrews 7 is that the New Covenant or "Testament" is besed upon even older Promises than the Old Covenant and therefore
takes precedent over it.

5
And verily they that are of the sons of Levi, who receive the office of the priesthood, have a commandment to take tithes of the
people according to the law, that is, of their brethren, though they come out of the loins of Abraham:

6
But he whose descent is not counted from them received tithes of Abraham, and blessed him that had the promises.

7
And without all contradiction the less is blessed of the better.

8
And here men that die receive tithes; but there he receiveth them, of whom it is witnessed that he liveth.

9
And as I may so say, Levi also, who receiveth tithes, payed tithes in Abraham.

10
For he was yet in the loins of his father, when Melchisedec met him.

11
If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there
that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron?

12
For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law.

So Grace takes precedent over Works.
