A name is just a collection of letters, empty in essence. Words are just collection of empty letters, like the words emptiness and fullness.

Saying that emptiness is full is ****, T. Empty is empty, period. It's like saying absolute plus one.

Empty mind is full of words.

Reality is not made of words, only illusion is.

Clinging to words is ignorance.

Absolute is forever unfathomable, hence empty of definition.

An interesting aspect about emptiness is, that since it cannot be known in its own right (lacking any form whatsoever), it comes to be experienced because of form and fullness (phenomena) which is as empty, due to lack of essence.
And to fully understand this paradox,... its not that form is any different than emptiness! Yes, its true emptiness has no form, and yes, contemplating 'form is empty' will deliver one to the experience of emptiness as form! As solidity being emptiness!
Its not entirely correct to say..."this solidity is an illusion, the true reality is not solid because emptiness cannot be solid"...in fact it can!

From the Sutra of Hui Nen:
He who treads the Path in earnest
Sees not the mistakes of the world;
If we find fault with others
We ourself are also in the wrong.
When other people are in the wrong,
we should ignore it,
For it is wrong for us to find fault.
By getting rid of the habit of faultfinding
We cut off a source of defilement.

Shodo Harada Roshi's comment:
To not always point out others faults, but to take responsibility for all our own unskillful actions, to see our own challenges instead of pointing out others faults; to not waste time on others' faults for that is what we have to take responsibility for, or who will take responsibility? Always seeing this clearly.

The social sphere is all about making things appear fixed and permanent and then responding to that appearance as if it were real. This is how emptiness in phenomena is forgotten--the preoccupation with things that matter only because perception deems they matter. If one were to make experiencing emptiness matter then that would become the experience.

Monks certainly have an advantage in that they can surround themselves in an environment that is conducive to their aims. That is, be around others who's prime goal is experiencing directly emptiness rather than social engagement. Social considerations are tempting, they offer a false promise of gain in some way. Emptiness offers no gain so is not alluring in the same way.

But, even if monks do have an advantage, anyone who wants to experience emptiness directly just needs to withdraw attention from the perceived social sphere.

"Attach yourselves to nothing beyond the pure Buddha-Nature which is the original source of all things. Suppose you were to adorn the Void with countless jewels, how could they remain in position? The Buddha-Nature is like the Void; though you were to adorn it with inestimable merit and wisdom, how could they remain there? They would only serve to conceal its original Nature and to render it invisible."

My interp of your post, Grand:

You want to be behind that finger rather than in front.

The question is, why point the finger at all? If the finger, pointer and pointed are all empty, why talk about them in the social context which does not acknowledge this?

To experience emptiness means to not have the social experience of being either behind or in front of the finger, for example.

Well, I would hope that people come here for various reasons and there is not just one reason to post here. I do think that is just your opinion anyway.

Funny you call what I say strict. Does anyone else perceive it that way? I know some here have talked about developing discipline, a certain kind that is needed for spiritual understandings. Yes, we have to discipline the mind away from habitual reactions. And that endeavor is actually satisfying to do.

Yes, discipline is needed in spiritual endeavor, otherwise is just mere mind game and imagination. But letting loose, as one remains mindful, is necessary too, or you get dry and run the risk of infatuation, intolerance and self-righteousness wihout even noticing it and even seeing it as "virtue". Enough examples of this in the spiritual history, no?
