I want to relate an experience that I had many years ago because I think it bears on the discussion. Because of comments by Doktor Green and Lone Wolf and Saranicka, and because a few months ago Some drastic changes have come over me, I have come closer in recent days to repeating this experience.
My teacher who is gone on now told me that to be able to have an experience once is just that, an experience. To be able to do it again is to have mastered the experience.
He also said that sometimes a person is given experiences that are "way beyond" their capabilities.
It seems like a lot of my experiences are of that sort. I experience something and then spend years learning from them, seeing them at deeper levels. Reinterpreting them as time goes on.
When I had the particular experience that I am going to relate, I described it to John (my teacher) and he told me it was the "beginnings of" the Kundalini, or "Serpent Fire". (Which he had gone through and which nearly killed him, but which he subsequently "mastered" in that he could both tough with it and use it in his healing practice). He told me that based upon my experience itself and the physical symptoms that accompany such an experience and continue afterwards.
Both the symptoms and the ease at which I am able to "Approach" that experience have returned in recent months.
I was doing the same meditation that both John and Gopi Krisna did to initiate the experience; Both were almost killed. Here is the meditation.
I put my awareness on the top of my head just above the spine. In the "Western Mystic Tradition" it is called the "Point", symbol of the Unmanifest, Kether, first Sephirah on the "Tree of Life". In the Eastern Traditions" it is called the "Thousand Petaled Lotus."
From there, I reached up as high as I could go. Keeping my conscious at that point. Correcting when my mind wandered.
I stayed that way for a long time. Hours. anything that would turn my mind was ignored.
I began to feel enrgy in my gonads which happens during that type of meditation, but I ignored it.
The sound, like a swarm of locusts, which also happens in meditation became louder than ususal. I followed the sound, still keeping my consciousness on the same place and reaching up.
The sound increased and burning in my feet began to increase. I ignored it and followed the sound reaching up.
At some point, I realized that the sound had become a Roaring that was shaking me apart and that the heat was a burning as if I were on fire. I knew that it would destroy my body if I stayed within it. The burning and the shaking caused by the deafening sound were killing me.
I went out of the top of my head. I felt as if I was being born and the top of my head was a womb.
Released from the body I did not stop concentrating and reaching up.
At some point, something(or someone) grabbed me from above. Not a hand, a force began pulling me higher and higher at ever increasing speed. Any fear or negative emotion had to be corrected immediately or I would get off of the path that I was traveling. I felt like I was in a car on a dragstrip going at high speed and any emotion was causing violent reaction. As I stilled my emotions and just "was" it was alright. At a point, I stayed at a certain "level" I guess you could call it. I did not continue "upward".
At that point I was without a body, spread out within an energy that at first felt like an orgasm and changed into pure Joy. I was one with it and I knew that it was more powerful than the Sun because it was not "physical energy"
But the source of both physical energy and matter. Or "A" source of it. I was "Touching with Power".
To describe this "Energy" or "Plane" would be to lessen it, especially after so long a time, but I have taken to calling it "Blue/White Liquid Lightening" as that would be the best way to compare it with things of this world.
I was in it and it was through me and I/we spread out as far in all directions as my mind could go. It was Pure Joy.
I was Pure Joy.
According to the Kabbalah I would guess it was becoming one with the secong Sephirah Chokmah,"Wisdom" the second emanation of God. Or it may have been a very high plane, but it was Power that moved toward me in circular motion. A sea of Power. and I was also that Sea of Power. I felt what It felt. I Was it.
As with other Spiritual experiences my perception of the world was different for quite a few weeks after this experience. I could deal with FI's or demons on lower planes, or Rise up to this higher experience and leave them all behind. But,the Awe or Fear of God was much bigger and more frightening to me at that time. Mostly because a wrong thought at that level could have wrong results at this level. And I was young and not very sure of my own mind. I didn't want to cause any harm.
I'm not sure this has any similarities to the "Third Attention", that we have been discussing. But it seems to.
